Shipping and Receiving Specialist

F.D. Hurka Calibration Company is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Shipping and Receiving Associate to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the inbound and outbound shipment processes, ensuring the safe and accurate movement of calibration equipment, tools, and supplies. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining a streamlined and efficient workflow.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience in a shipping, receiving, or warehouse role preferred.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and operate material handling equipment.
Familiarity with shipping and receiving software and inventory management systems.
Good communication skills and ability to collaborate with team members and external partners.
Basic computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
Knowledge of safety regulations and practices in a warehouse environment.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software programs.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
Essential Functions Prepare and package calibration equipment for outgoing shipments, ensuring that all items are properly labeled, documented, and securely packed. Coordinate with internal departments to ensure timely and accurate processing of orders and returns. Maintain accurate records of shipping and receiving activities, including shipment logs, inventory counts, and discrepancies. Communicate with suppliers, customers, and internal teams to track and resolve any shipping or receiving issues. Assist with inventory management and stock rotation, ensuring items are properly cataloged and stored. Perform routine quality control checks on items before shipment and ensure all calibration documentation is included. Operate material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) safely and in compliance with safety regulations. Assist with general warehouse maintenance and cleanliness, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Contribute to continuous improvement efforts for shipping and receiving processes. Delivery of customer equipment will need to be completed utilizing company vehicles.
Physical Demands Must be able to stand, bend, lift, and walk for extended periods. Must be able to handle and transport packages of varying sizes and weights, possibly up to 50 lbs. The role is based in a non-temperature-controlled warehouse setting with moderate to heavy physical activity, including lifting and moving materials. Work hours are typically Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime as needed.
