Shipping & Receiving Specialist

PrideStaff is seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and proactive Shipping & Receiving Specialist to manage all aspects of inbound and outbound logistics. This role ensures that all shipments and inventory movements are handled efficiently, safely, and in full compliance with company procedures. The ideal candidate will be a certified fork truck operator, a strong communicator, and highly dependable. This individual will also monitor and update the shipping database to ensure full visibility of all logistics activity across the company facilities. Reports To: Warehouse Manager / Operations Lead Location: Charlotte, NC 28217 Schedule: Monday through Friday. 7:00am-4:30pm Morning Break: 9:30 AM (15-minute paid break) Lunch: 11:30 AM (30-minute unpaid break) Afternoon Break: 2:00 PM (15-minute paid break) Pay Rate: $20/hour Key Responsibilities: Receiving Handle and inspect all inbound shipments to company buildings. Accurately count, label, and receive in the Inventory System (GP) all materials in accordance with internal S&R guidelines. Identify and report missing or damaged items promptly. Ensure proper routing of received items to their designated locations. Track and verify customer returns and coordinate internal handling with the Customer service team. Shipping Prepare and coordinate all outgoing shipments from company facilities, including but not limited to UPS, Fed Ex, LTL, & Truckload. Package materials securely using correct labeling documentation to prevent damage in transit. Create and manage bills of lading (BOL), ensuring compliance with freight requirements and optimized shipping costs. Load company trucks with appropriate documentation and labeling. Monitor the shipping database daily to track shipment requests, update shipment statuses, and identify potential schedule conflicts or material shortages. Ensure all shipping activity aligns with requested timelines and delivery requirement Communicate with internal teams and management about upcoming shipment needs and any challenges related to materials, packaging, or scheduling. Coordination & Communication Serve as the primary point of contact for shipping vendors and internal teams regarding all shipments. Responsible for obtaining competitive quotes from multiple logistics brokers and sourcing new broker relationships as needed to ensure optimal coverage and pricing. Maintain detailed awareness of all truck schedulesincluding departures, arrivals, and delivery routes. Communicate actively with management about part shortages, missing resources, or shipping constraints. Provide status updates and escalate time-sensitive challenges. Internal Transfers Transfer inventory and materials between company buildings as needed. Ensure proper documentation and tracking of all inter-building moves. Forklift Safety & Pallet Management Operate forklifts & other warehouse equipment safely and efficiently. Follow all safety protocols and maintain compliance with OSHA and internal safety standards. Ensure all pallets are properly packed, secured, and safe for transit. Maintain cleanliness and organization in pallet staging areas. Replace or repair damaged pallets to meet safety standards. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Current fork truck certification is required. Minimum 12 years of experience in shipping/receiving, logistics, or warehouse operations. Experience with inventory systems and shipping database platforms (e.g., UPS WorldShip) preferred. Basic computer proficiency (Windows, Outlook). Strong attention to detail, documentation skills, and time management. Ability to safely lift, carry, and maneuver heavy items. Excellent communication and collaboration skills across teams. Work Conditions Frequent standing, bending, walking, and lifting required. The work environment includes indoor warehouses and outdoor loading areas. May require flexibility in schedule to accommodate truck arrival/departure times. Compensation / Pay Rate (Up to): $20.00 Per Hour
