General Statement of Job Under occasional supervision, performs routine or standardized duties involved in the processing of requests and requisitions for digital printing for the District. Reports to the Supervisor.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities Essential Functions: Manage numerous, complex projects from a variety of client specifications to meet delivery and quality expectations; Set-up and operate high resolution, variable print proprietary imaging equipment, including finishing operations such as cutting, folding, stitching, drilling, etc.; Sort, assemble and monitor quality of job output for accuracy and image quality; Work with and manage variable data and image files using various software programs in Mac OS & Windows environment (i.e. Excel, Fiery, etc.); Troubleshoot and correct files for production, including digitally manipulating color calibration to meet expectations for color reproduction; Clean and maintain work area, performing daily/weekly/monthly maintenance on equipment to ensure maximum performance based on equipment specifications and acquired knowledge of machine operations; Understand and perform troubleshooting procedures on digital press and finishing equipment; Monitor and maintain inventory of supplies; Adhere to and promote all safety policies and procedures; Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned; Follow all operating procedures; Assist management with achieving department and company goals and objectives.
Additional Duties: Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Training High School diploma or equivalent with 5+ years of relevant operational experience OR demonstrated ability to meet the job requirements through a comparable number of years of work experience in a commercial print/digital print environment.
Ability to set up digital print and finishing equipment, running jobs and performing quality control procedures.
Ability to build collaborative relationships and to work effectively in a team environment.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with a variety of personalities using diplomacy and tact.
Strong mechanical aptitude with demonstrated troubleshooting skills.
Competent math skills required.
Proficient with using Mac OS & Windows computer systems.
Ability to regularly and frequently lift up to 25 pounds and, occasionally, lift materials up to 50 pounds.
Minimum Qualifications and Standards Required Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of machines and equipment, including a computer, calculator, telephone, etc. Must be able to exert up to five pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for periods of time. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of five to ten pounds.
Data Conception: Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable functional, structural or compositional characteristics (whether similar to or divergent from obvious standards) of data, people or things.
Interpersonal Communications: Requires the ability of speaking and/or signaling people to convey or exchange information. Includes giving assignments and/or directions to subordinates and receiving assignments and/or direction from supervisor.
Language Ability: Requires the ability to read a variety of policy and procedures manuals, regulations and laws, financial documents, computer manuals, etc. Requires the ability to prepare reports, correspondence, performance appraisals, etc., with proper format, punctuation, spelling and grammar, using all parts of speech. Requires the ability to speak with and before others with poise, voice control and confidence.
Intelligence: Requires the ability to apply rational systems to solve practical problems, and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists, and to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic or schedule form. Requires the ability to apply influence systems in managing a staff, to learn and understand relatively complex principles and techniques, to make independent judgments in absence of supervision, and to acquire knowledge of topics related to primary occupation. Must have the ability to comprehend and interpret received information.
