Title: Tenant Services Coordinator (Powell)

Base Pay Range $55,000.00/yr - $60,000.00/yr
Primary Function And Purpose The Tenant Services Coordinator helps to provide safe, secure, and well‑managed permanent housing and contributes to the organization’s overall mission of ending homelessness by supporting tenants transition to and maintain permanent housing. These goals are achieved through individual contact with tenants and through organized program activities and workshops. The Tenant Services Coordinator acts as a resource to the tenants and provides information and referrals for entitlement programs and services within the community. The Tenant Services Coordinator will collaborate with the Property Management team to ensure tenants with rent arrears receive the services needed to maintain permanent housing.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Participate in lease signing meetings with tenants to assist with the review of lease, tenant policies, etc.
Meet with tenants to complete intake documentation, assess their needs and provide information, referrals, and advocacy as needed; orient tenants to the community during their initial meeting.
Meet with tenants to ensure they meet the requirements to maintain their housing subsidy and obtain and maintain entitlement benefits required to sustain permanent housing.
Assist tenants with preparation of documents needed for recertification of housing vouchers.
Develop linkages with community organizations and service providers to refer tenants for services, resources and support in collaboration with the Tenant Services Director.
Provide crisis intervention when needed and refer tenants to emergency services.
Identify community activities and events and make information available via bulletin boards, newsletters, and calendars of activities disseminated to tenants.
Develop and implement a wide range of program activities—including groups, workshops and social events such as substance use education, fitness and nutrition, employment support, holiday events—and conduct monthly workshops, group and social events.
Support tenants in learning and engaging in life skills such as navigating and utilizing public transportation, grocery shopping, cleaning, and accessing community resources; conduct monthly life‑skills engagement activities.
Collaborate with the Director of Tenant Services to develop a tenant committee that serves as an informal support network and vehicle for tenant‑driven activities.
Serve as the primary tenant contact for questions and concerns, redirect tenants to appropriate staff, and keep social services and building management informed of tenant involvement.
Perform administrative tasks as needed, including monthly building newsletter production and monthly reports.
Document tenant services and referrals in case notes and maintain a tenant file containing initial intake and assessment, subsidy information and relevant documentation.
Attend multidisciplinary approach to services meetings, staff meetings, and tenant services coordination meetings within the department.
Perform other additional duties, directions, and tasks as designated by the supervisor.

Problem‑solving responsibility: Exercise a high level of creativity and analytical thinking to effectively problem solve with limited information.
Working relationships and contacts: Foster positive relationships with internal contacts, senior leaders, management, employees within other departments, and direct reports.
Impact/importance of function: Accountable for service delivery to increase resident satisfaction and ensure accurate and timely response to issues, thereby enhancing productivity between Social Services and operations.
Position Requirements and Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of project‑based FHEPS (Family Homelessness and Eviction Prevention Supplement) and other affordable housing programs.
Experience with harm reduction and motivational interviewing techniques preferred.
Utilize good judgment and discretion in handling confidential information.
Communicate effectively and establish credibility throughout the organization, including senior management, department heads, and colleagues.
Demonstrated ability to understand and work with analytical tools, reports, and technology.
Bilingual Spanish is ideally preferred.
Proficient in MS Office, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, with a high degree of proficiency in Excel.
High level of experience and proficiency working within a Property Management system is a plus.
Great customer service and team management skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with property owners, vendors, and tenants.
Ability to work independently or as part of a multi‑functional team, manage multiple priorities, and maintain initiative.
Frequently collaborate with a wide range of colleagues to deliver expected results.
Highly ethical, motivated, results‑oriented, creative problem‑solving, respectful proactiveness.
Detail‑oriented, highly organized, excellent project management with strong follow‑up, time management, and presentation skills.
Superior oral and written communication skills coupled with strong interpersonal skills.
Two (2) years of satisfactory full‑time work experience in Human Services or related field, or equivalent education and/or related work experience.
Bachelor’s degree from a four‑year college or university with a minimum of four (4) years of professional experience in Human Services, affordable property management, housing development, urban planning, community development, or a related field is preferred; or an associate’s degree with a minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in one of the fields listed above.
May be required to work long hours and a varied schedule; travel throughout various locations in the New York City area; lift and move objects up to 30 pounds several times a week.
