Job Title: Entry Level Cook/Baker Job Type: Part-time Pay: $13 to $13 per hour At Kazba Cafe, we pride ourselves with providing healthy, home-made style foods and baked goods, mostly made from scratch in our kitchen. The cook position is essential to our establishment and the success of our café. Job Overview: We encourage applicants to check our website and social media to peruse our menu items to get familiar with the style of our cuisine. Responsibilities: - Assist with food preparation, including cutting, chopping, and mixing ingredients - Follow recipes and cooking techniques as instructed by the Head Chef - Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently - Maintain a clean and organized work area - Assist with inventory management and ordering supplies as needed -Receive food deliveries and organize dry and refrigerated items appropriately - Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines -Opening and closing procedures for the kitchen ensuring everything is clean and tidy daily -Replenish the service line with all needed items for order preparations -Taking initiative when necessary Requirements: - Strong passion for cooking and baking - Basic knife skills, basic food knowledge and cooking skills like sautéing, roasting, oven-baking… -Ability to handle (clean, cut, marinate..) different types of meats (chicken, beef, ground beef..) - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment - Excellent communication and teamwork skills - Willingness to learn and take direction from senior staff - Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time - Prior cooking or baking experience is a plus, but not required -Must complete Food Handler certificate within 30 days of hire or provide unexpired certificate.
