Why This Role Matters As a Mortgage Loan Originator, you play a crucial role in helping members achieve their homeownership goals by guiding them through the mortgage loan process. Your work ensures that loan applications are completed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with credit union and investor guidelines. You’ll build strong member relationships, offer tailored financial solutions, and drive growth through your deep understanding of mortgage lending products and regulations.

What You’ll Do Mortgage Loan Origination & Member Engagement

Develop and maintain strong relationships with members, real estate professionals, and other industry contacts to generate loan opportunities

Interview prospective borrowers to gather necessary information and input it into the loan origination system

Provide required disclosures and ensure timely and complete loan application submissions

Recommend suitable mortgage options based on members’ needs and investor guidelines

Guide borrowers through the application process, from submission to closing, ensuring a smooth and professional experience

Explain credit decisions and loan terms clearly and professionally

Cross-sell appropriate credit union products and services

Stay current with industry regulations, trends, and mortgage products

Loan Application & Processing Support

Collect and review all required financial documentation

Work with processors and underwriters to obtain missing information

Ensure all investor, regulatory, and internal guidelines are met throughout the process

Maintain open communication with borrowers and internal teams to ensure timely completion of applications

Performance & Growth

Meet or exceed monthly loan production and sales goals

Maintain a high level of accuracy, compliance, and service throughout the loan process

Promote a strong member experience while adhering to operational standards

Qualifications Who You Are Experience & Education

2–3 years of mortgage lending or related experience required

1–2 years of experience with secondary market lending preferred

Previous sales experience required

High School diploma or equivalent required

NMLS licensure preferred

Skills & Strengths

Knowledge of conventional, government, and portfolio mortgage products

Understanding of federal and state mortgage regulations

This position allows for an optional hybrid work arrangement which includes a combination of both in‑office and remote work arrangements. (Maximum of two days remote, three days in‑office). To be eligible for the program, employees must complete a minimum of 90 days of continuous, regular employment, be in good standing, and submit a formal hybrid work application prior to being eligible for hybrid work, pending supervisor approval. Work schedules will be established by the employee's supervisor according to business needs. Working locations and schedules may be altered at management discretion.
