Position Summary
The Laundry Assistant is responsible for ensuring that the residents’ clothing, bedding, and other linens are cleaned and maintained in a timely and hygienic manner. The role involves close collaboration with other staff to ensure the comfort and well-being of the residents within the facility. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Collect, sort, and launder all residents’ clothing, bed linens, towels, and other items, ensuring colors and fabrics are appropriately separated. Fold, iron, and return laundered items to the respective resident’s room in a neat and orderly fashion. Identify and treat stains or damage on clothing or linens promptly. Operate laundry machines following the manufacturer’s instructions and facility protocols. Perform routine checks and maintenance on laundry equipment to ensure it’s in good working condition. Report any malfunctions or needs for repairs to the facility management. Ensure that all clothing is laundered according to care instructions, ensuring the longevity of items and avoiding damage. Utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety precautions when handling soiled laundry. Liaise with residents and/or their families regarding specific laundry preferences or concerns. Collaborate with the housekeeping and care staff to ensure timely collection and delivery of laundry. Adhere to all facility health and safety protocols. Keep the laundry area clean, organized, and free from hazards. Track laundry supplies and notify the manager when supplies are running low. Handle residents’ personal items with care, ensuring nothing is lost or misplaced. Perform other duties as needed. Supervisory Responsibilities
The incumbent in this position will not have any supervisory responsibilities. Education, Experience, and Credentials
At least 18 years of age. Required Health Screening, TB Clearance, and Criminal Record Clearance. Any special licenses, certifications, and certificates (First Aid/ CPR Certified) High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in laundry services or a similar role is a plus. Experience in assisted living, health care, or a similar environment is a plus. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively. Good communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with residents and staff. Ability to perform tasks that may require bending, lifting, carrying, and working in various weather conditions. Basic computer skills for documentation and communication purposes. Knowledge of laundry equipment, products, and care labels. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to work flexible schedule, including weekends. Physical Requirements
Physical ability to lift, bend, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. Physical ability to stand for extended periods. Pay
Pay scale $20.00 - $22.50
