Assistant Cook – Timberline
Ameristar Casino Resort Spa Black Hawk is seeking a dedicated Assistant Cook to join the Timberline kitchen team. This full‑time entry‑level position offers competitive pay and a comprehensive benefits package.
Location & Salary Winter Park, CO – $19.00 to $21.00 per hour.

Responsibilities
Conduct oneself in a professional manner reflecting a positive image.
Require reading and math skills for recipes and measurements.
Communicate in basic English; read recipes and interact with team.
Perform duties in hot to normal to cold temperature ranges.
Operate kitchen equipment (slicer, steamer, deep fryer, ovens, broiler, grill, mixer, kettle, flattop).
Lift or carry up to 300 lbs continuously; perform bending, stooping, kneeling, standing, and walking significant distances.
Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
Collaborate with staff to cook, prepare, dish‑up and assemble all outlet food.
Adhere to food cost and quality control procedures.
Complete side work including replenishing and restocking workstation supplies.
Check station before, during, and after shift for proper set‑up and cleanliness.
Follow all safety procedures and clean‑as‑you‑go techniques.
Adhere to health codes and hand‑washing guidelines.
Read and gather all necessary items for recipe execution.
Prepare all food items per standard recipes to ensure consistency.
Perform tasks such as salads, soups, bases, fire up equipment, gather product, prep shellfish, stocks, sauces, desserts, etc.
Have total knowledge of one station and familiarity with two others.
Qualifications
Excellent guest service skills.
Working knowledge of food storage, knife handling, weights & measures, stocks, soups, sauces, plated presentations, recipes, yields, health department regulations, sanitation and safety regulations.
Use appropriate language when engaging guests and co‑workers, communicating clearly and courteously.
Ability to resolve guest concerns and seek assistance from appropriate personnel.
Strong organizational skills.
Collaborative communication with team members at all levels.
Minimum 6 months experience in food preparation and food knowledge.
Ability to perform all cooking duties.
Fast‑paced work environment with urgency.
All required classes or certifications by CO state or Ameristar Casino obtainable.
