Employment Specialist (Atlantic and Cumberland Counties)
Shift: Full-Time, Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM (Must be flexible to work evenings & weekends as needed)
About Us And Our Program Since January 8th 1948, Easterseals New Jersey has worked to meet the continuously growing needs of people with disabilities and their families. Its Supported Employment program, employment specialists work with participants to identify career goals and achieve them. Through individualized support and training, participants have all the tools they will need to transition into a new career.
What You’ll Do The Employment Specialist helps individuals secure and maintain competitive employment by fostering independence, building employer partnerships, and identifying workplace supports for long‑term success.
Key Responsibilities
Assist consumers in overcoming barriers to employment and secure competitive employment that is consistent with their vocational goals.
Contact new referrals, complete initial intake, develop employment plan utilizing person‑centered planning, and maintain a consumer file.
Assist consumers with on‑the‑job coaching to acquire job‑specific skills, including hands‑on training or learning accommodations.
Conduct job searches and job development to obtain competitive employment consistent with consumer goals, skills, interests, and IPE.
Help consumers develop or re‑establish appropriate soft skills, attitudes, personal characteristics, work behaviors, and functional capacities.
Work with referral sources to market the program and receive referrals for Employment Services.
Who You Are
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or a rehabilitation‑related field from an accredited college and a minimum of one year related experience preferred; OR AA degree in Human Services or a rehabilitation‑related field from an accredited college and at least two years of related experience; OR A high school diploma and at least three years of related experience.
Experience:
Ability to communicate an understanding of the needs of the business community and job performance assessment.
Requirements:
Possess a valid driver’s license & an acceptable driving record.
Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word).
