Job Overview
Position:
Diesel Mechanic – Passenger Shuttle Bus Schedule:
Tuesday–Saturday, 5:00 AM – 1:30 PM Pay:
$28.00 – $34.00 per hour (hourly rate depends on experience, skills, and location) Key Responsibilities
Perform diagnostic, maintenance, and repair duties on passenger shuttle buses Inspect, adjust, and repair diesel-powered buses, including bearings, ignitions, transmissions, differentials, axles, steering mechanisms, fenders, radiators, front‑end and rear‑end suspension systems Execute prescribed preventive maintenance programs and perform road‑test inspections after work is completed Maintain and repair shop facilities and equipment; keep work area clean and organized Maintain accurate records of work performed, including vehicle identification, mileage, and maintenance actions Required Knowledge & Abilities
Understanding of diagnostic and repair procedures for diesel and gas‑powered equipment Proficiency with automotive and shuttle bus diagnostic tools, welding, electrical work, and chassis adjustments Knowledge of preventive maintenance procedures, DOT regulations, and hazardous waste handling Strong safety awareness and ability to follow safe work practices Qualifications
Minimum four years of mechanical experience with school buses, gas or diesel engines, or passenger shuttle buses Ase or equivalent certifications in engine repair, transmission, suspension/steering, brakes, electrical systems, and HVAC preferred Valid Class B driver’s license required Strong communication skills and ability to work independently Legal Notice
