Overview
Resident Care Aide (RCA) – Elderwood Village at Colonie. Requisition ID: 2025-33372. Area: Nursing. Location: Elderwood Village at Colonie. Position Type: Regular Full-Time. Shift: 7am – 3pm and 3pm – 11pm. Salary: Pay: $16.50 - $18.02 / hour. Openings: 2. This role supports the health and well-being of residents by providing personal care under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse to maintain the highest quality of resident care.
Responsibilities
Assist residents with Daily Living Activities as needed (meal assistance, grooming, medication management, showering, dressing/undressing, toileting, skin care).
Move and walk quickly and steadily in emergency situations; assist with wheelchair transport as needed.
Apply/utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required; respond promptly to residents' requests.
Provide ADL support according to each resident’s plan of care and care preferences: bathing, dressing, eating, exercise, housekeeping, meal preparation, medical supplies/equipment, positioning, grooming, toileting, transferring, personal emergency response, routine skin care, laundering.
Notify Supervisor of changes in residents’ conditions or needs; receive nurse reports prior to care and document services performed.
Maintain facility standards for resident care: protect residents’ rights, treat residents with respect, report equipment or safety issues, complete annual in-service trainings, and maintain an orderly environment.
Assist with dining service as needed and participate in facility meetings/in-services.
Support and contribute to improvements in the quality of care and productivity; follow safety rules and guidelines to protect staff, residents, and visitors.
Use the electronic timekeeping system; arrive on time and adhere to dress code and device policies; uphold Elderwood Mission, Vision, and Values; comply with HIPAA and conduct policies.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or Administrator.
Qualifications Resident Care Aide (RCA) Qualifications:
Age 18+; high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Completion of RCA training on Relias (22 modules) with 80%+ on post tests within 21 days from start date.
Certificate of Completion maintained in the employee's HR file.
Completion of 40 hours orientation with RCA Competency before working independently; ongoing Relias module work during orientation, completed within 21 days from start date.
Skills & Competencies:
effective verbal communication with residents/families/staff; ability to read/understand task assignments; reliable, compassionate, respectful attitude toward residents; teamwork; responsibility and cleanliness; ability to perform tasks to high standards.
English proficiency at intermediate level or higher for safe, effective interaction in a resident care setting.
