BI-VOCATIONAL SENIOR PASTOR – FIRST CHURCH, CIRCLEVILLE
Purpose of Position
The Pastor demonstrates strong faith, is humble and transparent, and models dependence upon God. He/she works collaboratively with other ministry leaders to develop and boldly cast mission, vision, and values. The Pastor motivates and inspires others to be followers of Jesus; is an effective communicator through relevant and practical teaching/preaching and has a solid biblical theological understanding. Must love people, care for the lost, and take interest in the community. Ministry Setting
First Church of God, Circleville is a small congregation, diverse in age located in a rural community. Qualifications
Must have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior with a continually growing relationship with Christ. Ordained minister in good standing within the First Church of God. Strong knowledge of the Holy Bible and the teachings of Christ. Excellent public speaking and writing skills and the ability to communicate effectively and engaging the congregation. Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and inspire a congregation. Strong sense of mission and divine calling and compassion and understanding with strong counseling skills. Responsibilities
Preparing and delivering Christ-centered, Bible-based Church of God doctrine sermons for Sunday morning service, Sunday evening bible study. Participate and support in Sunday morning Adult Sunday School and helping to lead Wednesday evening prayer circle. Leading in the observance of religious services such as communion, foot washing, adult baptism, infant dedication, weddings and funerals. Offering spiritual and moral guidance and leadership to church members. Promote and foster a sense of community within the congregation. Welcoming new visitors. A familiarity with church and community grows; conduct counseling, visit and pray with sick and bereaved members of the congregation. Including those who may be in hospitals, rehabs, nursing homes, and residences. Offer support and prayer for comfort and spiritual care. Including pastoral care to the congregation and their families. Conducting community outreach efforts and networking to the wider community and encouraging congregation to support and participate in such efforts. Organizing and leading regular meetings for church committees and ministries. Participates as Ex-officio of the Board of Elders meetings, Chairman of Church Association-Anderson, and Chair of annual Church Business Meetings. Collaborate with church leadership to develop and implement strategic goals and initiatives toward growth. Guide the spiritual direction of the church, ensuring alignment with its mission, vision, and values. Mentor and support church staff and lay leaders in their roles.
