Job Summary Repair and maintain heavy equipment for our North Slope operations.
Schedule 84‑hour weeks, 3 weeks on, 3 weeks off.
Pay $30-$35 per hour, ($80K-$95K annually) DOE.
Representative Duties
Perform diverse repair tasks, including electrical and mechanical.
Operate and safely use diesel engines, hydraulics, and pneumatic operating equipment.
Repair and maintain light and heavy equipment.
Perform AC/DC stick welding, MIG welding, and use oxy‑acetylene methods of cutting and welding.
Resolve and repair equipment failures and mechanical issues as directed.
Maintain a safe working environment.
Required Skills
Ability to work in the arctic environment and knowledge of arctic weather conditions.
Knowledge of heavy equipment operation and maintenance procedures and processes.
Knowledge of repair techniques and requirements for mechanical, electronic, and other diverse equipment systems.
Knowledge of safety precautions for operating and repairing motorized vehicles, equipment, and tools.
Skills in analyzing and resolving heavy equipment operation and maintenance problems.
Skills in the use of tools, materials, and equipment used in heavy equipment maintenance.
Skills in operating power equipment and hand tools.
Skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with co‑workers and community project representatives.
Skills in tracking and maintaining records.
Perform other duties as assigned or required.
Requirements Minimum Qualifications A high school diploma or GED and five (5) years of experience in heavy equipment repair. Must have experience with man lifts, all‑terrain forklifts, cranes, loaders, heaters, light plants, generators, etc.
Additional Requirements Depending on the need of the organization, incumbents may be required to obtain an 'A' Alaska CDL license and any additional certifications or training in specialty areas. May be called out to work off‑shift in emergency situations. A minimum of a 5‑year clean driving record is required.
Minimum Physical Requirements Frequent exposure to hazardous work environments with heavy machinery, hazardous materials, and extreme weather conditions. The position requires frequent climbing, bending, stretching, stooping, kneeling, and working in cramped positions.
