Salary Range:

$125,000.00–$122,000.00 (final offer may vary).

This exempt position provides direct support in the execution of a wide variety of business development efforts and initiatives, including events, pitch books, presentations, proposals, research, content administration, marketing communications and practice group coordination.

Responsibilities

Plan and execute events, from strategic identification to tactical execution and implementation.

Partner with the Senior Business Development Manager on events and sponsorships, working with the firm’s Event Specialists on site/venue research, facility arrangements, room set‑up, A/V set‑up, giveaways, catering, photography, invitation list creation and design, event material preparation, reminders, and follow‑up communications.

Manage assignment of events, including strategy, execution, and follow‑up plans.

Meet with and manage third‑party service providers (e.g., catering, facilities).

Execute day of event responsibilities: registration, nametags, handout materials, site management, speakers and presentations.

Coordinate professional accreditations (e.g., CLE, CPE, HRCI).

Work with the CRM team to maintain event information and contact updates in the firm’s CRM system.

Track post‑event follow‑up and return on investment in the CRM system.

Negotiate sponsorship benefits packages, process payments, fill tables, and activate benefits.

Coordinate with the website team to post event information.

Assist on other marketing and business development projects as required.

Secure internal budget approval and facilitate approval of sponsorship contracts.

Manage conference deliverables: company logos, attorney profiles, registration information and other materials.

Prepare and ship booth materials (marketing collateral, handouts, giveaway items, firm‑branded banners and signage).

Serve as primary point of contact with conference organizers.

Oversee administrative and logistical tasks related to conference participation.

Assist with creation and tailoring of pitch books, presentations and proposals.

Update practice group overviews, deal and case charts, client lists, and other materials.

Collect experience from attorneys and practice groups for inclusion in business development databases.

Prepare submissions for key directory rankings, awards and league tables.

Leverage collected experience via website, press releases, social media and directory submissions.

Develop internal newsletters, client alerts and other external communications.

Proofread marketing communication pieces.

Coordinate annual business planning, goal development, and execution with the SBDM and section chairs.

Review and update periodic accounting reports with the SBDM.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Reporting Relationship Reports directly to the Senior Business Development Manager, with a dotted line to the Chief Marketing Officer and relevant section chairs. Subordinate staff: Events/Business Development Assistant.

Qualifications

3+ years of experience in professional services, marketing/business development or corporate communications.

Strong computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Experience with middle‑market corporations and/or private equity sector desired.

Excellent communication skills, including listening, writing, proofreading, and editing.

Strong work ethic, positive client‑service orientation, and enthusiasm for a professional services business development career.

Ability to learn new software such as InterAction (CRM), Vuture, and other business intelligence tools.

Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment with tight deadlines.

Professional diplomacy and ability to work under high‑stress situations.

Strong teamwork skills and ownership of tasks.

Willingness to work early mornings, evenings and weekends when needed.

Bachelor’s degree (graduate degree a plus).

Physical Demands & Working Conditions Must be able to move around the office up to 15% of the time, remain stationary at least 85% of the time. May require up to 100% movement when coordinating/attending special events. Requires use of computer, printers, and other office machines. Occasional lifting of documents up to 15 lbs. Requires constant communication and observation of information on a computer screen at least 80% of the time. Office environment; overtime and occasional travel required.
