Position Summary The Marine Shop Foreman oversees daily operations in the marine service shop, including assigning work, supervising technicians, ensuring safety and quality compliance, and coordinating with project managers and clients to ensure jobs are completed on time and within scope.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate activities of marine technicians, welders, mechanics, and fabricators.
Allocate tasks and monitor progress to ensure timely completion of projects.
Ensure work is performed to industry standards and complies with safety regulations.
Perform quality control inspections on all completed work.
Manage shop tools, equipment, and inventory; schedule maintenance and repairs.
Train, mentor, and evaluate team members to maintain high productivity and workmanship.
Liaise with project managers and customers regarding job specifications, changes, and timelines.
Maintain accurate records of labor, materials, and job completion status.
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in marine repair, including supervisory responsibilities.
Strong knowledge of vessel systems: mechanical, electrical, propulsion, and hull repairs.
Excellent leadership, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and marine engineering drawings.
Familiarity with OSHA safety regulations and best practices.
Proficient in job tracking and reporting tools.
High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school certificate preferred.
Preferred
Experience with aluminum recreational vessels.
Certified Mercury tech.
Forklift operation.
Understanding of Lightspeed.
