Investigator (Hybrid)
California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) seeks an Investigator to conduct full criminal and civil investigations into fraud and misconduct against the California Medical Assistance Program (Medi‑Cal) and related state programs. Investigators are peace officers under California Penal Code Section 830.3(h) and typically work field‑based assignments, spending at least 90% of their time outdoors.
Responsibilities
Conduct thorough investigations, including gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and analyzing facts.
Maintain proficiency with a firearm and wear plain clothes with concealed carry as required.
Analyze situations accurately, draw valid conclusions, and take effective action under stressful conditions.
Travel throughout California as business requires while treating all individuals with respect and impartiality.
Minimum Qualifications See classification specification for full details. Candidates must meet all minimum qualifications (education, experience and a Section 830.3(h) peace officer status) and must be able to pass a drug screening, background investigation, medical clearance, and, if necessary, a psychological evaluation.
Work Location & Telework Los Angeles County (Hybrid telework: up to 3 days weekly, required in‑office presence minimum 2 days).
