Position Overview: As an Operations Specialist in Animal Care, you will ensure proper animal care and husbandry for all companion animals and aquatic life in the Pet Care Center (PCC). You will be the primary resource for animal care and maintenance, support the PCC’s budgeted sales and shrink goals, and help execute merchandising and inventory strategies across the PCC. You will work closely with the sales team to meet the needs of guests and their pets, and you will contribute to a positive, welfare-focused Pet Care Center team culture. Responsibilities

Maintain a high level of knowledge of companion animal and aquatic care; advocate for animal welfare. Ensure all companion animals and aquatic life in the PCC receive appropriate care, complete maintenance tasks, incident reports, and hourly health checks as required. Process register transactions to create a great guest experience; support the selling model and guest interactions. Stock, price, and present merchandise to create an engaging guest presentation. Complete and apply training programs; educate other PCC partners in animal care and maintenance. Promote teamwork, inclusion, and collaboration; adhere to operational guidelines, policies, and procedures. Evaluate guest inquiries and escalate to the Leader on Duty as needed; act as a primary resource for guests and PCC partners on animal education and care. Order companion animals, aquatic life, supplies, and merchandise in partnership with the sales team to maximize sales, margin, and inventory. Analyze inventory data and identify improvement opportunities; perform routine housekeeping to maintain the PCC’s professional image. Ensure proper handling and documentation for relinquished and adopted animals; verify maintenance tasks per schedules; participate in inventory counts. Adhere to safety and loss prevention procedures; perform additional duties as required or assigned. Other Essential Duties

UTILIZE SELLING BEHAVIORS : Provide an amazing guest experience by applying selling behaviors within our Sales Model. Basic Qualifications

Minimum of one year of experience caring for companion animals and aquatic life. Strong knowledge of companion animals and aquatic life; aptitude for sales techniques. Professional appearance and demeanor; genuine interest in animal care. Good interpersonal and verbal communication skills for interactions with the public, PCC partners, leaders, and external veterinary partners. Certification

Completion and maintenance of the Petco Animal Care Certification program is required. Education/Skills

High school diploma or equivalent (GED); ability to demonstrate proficiency in mathematics and basic accounting relationships; strong communication skills. Supervisory Responsibility

Ensure PCC is opened/closed in accordance with policies and procedures; promote safety procedures for partners, guests, and pets. Work Environment

Most duties indoors; occasional outdoor activities for guest carryouts and veterinary visits. This role requires bending, kneeling, moving merchandise up to 50 pounds, and standing for long periods. Flexible schedule including evenings and weekends may be required to meet PCC needs. Equal Opportunity Employer

Pay range: $13.00 – $22.00 per hour. Starting Rate: $16.00 per hour.
