
Overview
As a sales engineer, you will work closely with the Sales Manager and other sales team members on activities during the project pre-contract phase to ensure a successful project sale. You will identify and analyze the customer’s needs and translate those into a successful sales concept. You will provide solutions regarding complex technical and business issues, especially data and process analyses, and concepts. You will be the lead person to consult the client to find their best solution. You are responsible for creating a competitive, high-quality quotation.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with the Sales Manager and the sales team during the pre-contract phase to ensure a successful project sale.
Identify and analyze customer needs and translate them into a viable sales concept.
Provide solutions to complex technical and business issues, especially data and process analyses and concepts.
Lead consultations with clients to determine their best solution.
Prepare and deliver a competitive, high-quality quotation.
Lead concepts and quotation within the team and participate in handover to operations and project implementation on site.
Qualifications
Strong analytical skills; ability to create concept solutions based on analysis of the customer’s logistics processes.
Exceptional data analysis and preparation skills.
Experience estimating costs and pricing of large complex projects using multiple types (and vendors) of equipment.
Ability to understand equipment use and assist in its selection and specification.
Strong organizational skills.
Proficiency in commonly used computer software.
Analytical ability to understand the customer’s process, system throughputs and rates, and uses of automation equipment.
Well-developed influencing skills, both internal and external.
Strong communication skills and a creative and efficient approach to building professional client relationships.
Experience working in an international professional environment, preferably in a project organization.
Experience
Bachelor's degree in engineering — preferred.
Minimum 3–5 years of experience with complex sales processes, preferably within the automated material handling industry.
Experience using 3D modeling tools and common business software.
Ability to work effectively in an entrepreneurial international organization, often across organizational, geographic, and cultural boundaries.
Willing to travel domestically (up to 10–15%) and internationally (up to 5–10%).
