The Hospital of Central Connecticut is an acute‑care community teaching hospital. We provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services in general medicine and surgery, as well as a wide variety of specialties. Staffed by our talented team of leading professionals, The Hospital of Central Connecticut provides a wide array of services throughout the region, caring for patients from birth through the end of life.
Duties:
The Lead Phlebotomist provides day‑to‑day direction to the Phlebotomy team in achieving optimum workflow while providing an exceptional experience. This individual supports the Supervisor by performing a combination of activities while ensuring all procedures and policies are adhered to. Performs phlebotomy duties in compliance with applicable legal requirements and established laboratory policies. Demonstrates H3W behaviors with a focus on exceptional patient experience and quality outcomes.
Qualifications:
Significant processing experience required
Sunquest or Beaker experience required
Prior leadership experience required
High school graduate or equivalent
Successful completion of Phlebotomy program
2 years phlebotomy experience
National certification (NCCT or ASCP) or equivalent
Knowledge of venipuncture techniques
Excellent customer service skills with a professional attitude
Good keyboarding skills with ability to learn various laboratory applications and HHC computer systems
Continuous improvement mindset
Ability to handle different patient populations including difficult patients
Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
Ability to operate required lab equipment including pneumatic tube
