Job Summary
The Purchasing Specialist will offer support on efforts related to the procurement of items needed for manufacturing and other departments. Also included will be responsibilities to assist in inventory management, planning, and forecasting. In addition, the Purchasing & Production Planning / Analysis Specialist will assist in production analysis and planning. Requirements
AA degree required, BS degree in business, engineering, supply chain, procurement, finance or related field preferred Minimum of 3 years’ experience in supply chain management Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are a must Excellent negotiation skills Contract management experience Strong communication skills Strong computer skills, especially Outlook, Excel Supply Chain Management or APIC certification preferred Medical Device and/or biotech experience preferred Sourcing experience preferred Responsibilities
Support short- and long-term supply chain strategies by building strong relationships with internal departments and external vendors, planning for inventory to maintain safety & quality, ensure business continuity, reduce costs, and improve efficiency. Procure necessary supplies to support production and business needs while adhering to all quality and corporate procedures. Negotiate with vendors for goods and services, negotiating the best possible price and service guarantee. Assist in developing new supply sources where vendors meet specifications and quality standards. Examine bids, review with management, and make awards. Establishes account/credit and terms. Negotiate blanket purchase orders when appropriate, review with management, and monitor cost during the time period. Work closely with receiving staff to ensure proper supplies arrived Trace delinquent arrivals from purchase orders. Assist in resolving issues and conflicts with suppliers Maintain all applicable databases (Great Plains, Excel) used in developing the cost and quantity estimates, planning, and tracking inventory Analysis & Planning
Support business by analyzing production flow, supply inventory / deliver, working with sales to ensure safe and effective product is available for customers. Coordinate closely with sales and marketing teams to understand forecast and ensure appropriate analysis and data is put together to ensure production plan meets future demand. Coordinate closely with other departments (e.g. finance, quality, processing center(s), distribution center(s)) to create data needed to ensure appropriate plans are in place to meet current and future customer demand. Create routine analysis (e.g. current inventory status) for use at weekly production meetings. Report out production metrics to aid operations in the routine planning process Location
