Description Responsibilities
Administer compensation and benefits programs, including base pay, health and welfare benefits, retirement plans, and tuition programs.
Support annual and ad hoc compensation processes such as salary reviews, job changes, and market adjustments.
Assist with benefits enrollments, qualifying life events, and employee education related to benefit offerings.
Maintain accurate employee records in HRIS and benefits systems, ensuring data integrity and compliance.
Support compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to compensation and benefits (e.g., FLSA, ERISA, ACA, COBRA).
HR Service Center Operations
Serve as a frontline resource in the HR Service Center, responding to employee and manager inquiries related to benefits.
Triage, research, and resolve service requests, escalating complex issues as appropriate.
Provide clear, consistent guidance to employees while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
Track inquiries and resolutions to ensure service level expectations are met and issues are properly documented.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of knowledge articles, job aids, and standard operating procedures.
Operational Support and Reporting
Prepare routine and ad hoc reports related to compensation, benefits, and service center metrics.
Support audits, surveys, and data requests from internal and external stakeholders.
Partner with payroll, HRIS, finance, and vendors to ensure accurate processing and issue resolution.
Identify trends in employee inquiries to support improvements in communication, tools, and processes.
Customer Service and Collaboration
Deliver a positive employee experience through responsive, accurate, and service-oriented support.
Collaborate with other members of the HR team to ensure consistent application of total rewards programs and policies.
Participate in open enrollment, employee communications, and education initiatives as needed.
Requirements
Work requires knowledge of human resource management, including flexible benefits administration, as well as the ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing - acquired through a bachelor's degree in business administration or related field. A high school diploma and five years of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
Work requires skills in presentation, data base maintenance and reporting, program administration, and written communications. Work requires knowledge of benefits and insurance principles - acquired through one to two years of Human Resources experience. Masters level coursework in Human Resources Development, Organizational Development or related area may be considered as a substitute for some of the experience requirement.
Work requires interpersonal skills sufficient to: conduct telephone surveys; make group presentations; explain policies and procedures, in sometimes difficult situations, and to people of varying educational levels and analytical ability; and assist employees with problems and complaints (51-80% of work time).
Work requires analytical ability sufficient to anticipate or resolve problems and complications in benefit program administration.
Work requires the ability to balance priorities, meet tight deadlines, work at a computer, and follow up on details required to effectively administer programs, all of which very frequently (51-80% of work time) produce a high level of mental/visual fatigue.
