Manpower Group (USA)
Trade Compliance Manager
- Onsite | Southeastern Wisconsin - Confidential Global Manufacturer
The Opportunity A profitable, growing global manufacturing organization is adding a Trade Compliance Manager to take ownership of U.S. trade compliance during a period of heightened tariff complexity and global supply chain evolution.
This is a newly created high-visibility role reporting directly to senior finance leadership. The position will serve as the central owner of trade compliance strategy across components, finished equipment, and service parts, with a clear mandate to reduce risk, improve financial outcomes, and help shape the future structure of the function.
This role is ideal for a trade compliance professional who wants real ownership, strategic influence, and long-term runway—not a narrow maintenance role.
Why This Role Is Compelling
Direct P&L impact:
Tariffs are a meaningful cost driver. Your work will directly influence margins, pricing flexibility, and competitiveness.
True ownership:
You will be the primary authority for trade compliance, working closely with Finance, Supply Chain, Purchasing, Logistics, and Sales.
Build vs. inherit:
The organization is actively evaluating Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) implementation, with the expectation that this role will help shape and eventually lead a broader compliance function.
High visibility:
Regular interaction with senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
Global exposure:
Part of an international organization with collaboration across regions and potential international travel.
Stability and growth:
Strong financial performance, expanding product portfolio, and a long-term commitment to this function.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Own and centralize U.S. customs and trade compliance across all inbound and outbound activity
Lead HTS classification, valuation, and country-of-origin governance
Oversee and optimize duty drawback programs
Evaluate, implement, and help scale Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) operations
Serve as the primary liaison with customs brokers, consultants, and U.S. Customs & Border Protection
Analyze and communicate the financial impact of tariffs, including cost-reduction opportunities
Ensure audit readiness and compliance with evolving trade regulations
Partner cross-functionally to minimize tariff exposure and improve compliance discipline
Support selection and use of trade compliance systems and tools (e.g., SAP GTS, ACE)
What We’re Looking For
5–10+ years of progressive experience in U.S. customs and trade compliance
Deep, hands-on experience with HTS classification
Strong depth in either:
Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) operations or
Duty drawback programs
(experience with both is a plus, not a requirement)
Experience working directly with CBP, customs brokers, and regulatory agencies
Licensed Customs Broker strongly preferred
ERP exposure (SAP GTS or similar) and familiarity with ACE
Background in manufacturing, industrial equipment, or complex imported products is helpful
Comfortable operating independently and owning a function without heavy oversight
Demonstrated career stability and progression
Location & Work Environment
Onsite role based in Southeastern Wisconsin
Candidates across the broader SE Wisconsin region are encouraged to apply
No relocation assistance currently
Minimal required travel; occasional international exposure possible
Competitive base salary with bonus eligibility
The Ideal Candidate
You’re someone who has built credibility through ownership, not just exposure
Are confident making judgment calls and standing behind them
Enjoys working cross-functionally rather than in silos
Wants long-term stability with the opportunity to build a team and leave a legacy
If this opportunity aligns with where you want to take your career or you’re open to a confidential conversation, we welcome the discussion.
