POSITION SUMMARY The National Accounts Representative will support growth efforts within key national distributors and high-priority branch networks. The role focuses on identifying high-opportunity accounts, executing targeted outreach, driving product adoption through demos and solution-selling techniques, and expanding penetration across distributor branches. Responsibilities include the use of CRM systems, data-driven targeting, competitor analysis and consultative sales approaches such as Challenger and Solution Selling. The position also requires applying technical product knowledge, effective communication and the ability to convert demos into measurable ROI.
This position plays a critical role in building relationships, contributing to national-level strategies and supporting year-over-year growth through disciplined planning, outreach and follow-up.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES National Account Development
Develop and implement activities that support national distributor strategies aligned with the company’s account penetration goals.
Identify high-opportunity branches using CRM insights, LinkedIn, AI tools and market data.
Conduct branch visits and virtual demos to build relationships, support product trials and develop growth opportunities.
Apply Challenger Sale, Solution Selling and similar methodologies to identify customer needs and provide value-based information.
Manage demo-to-close activities, including securing test orders, tracking ROI and supporting conversion to repeat business.
Achieve assigned penetration targets across assigned national distributor networks.
Sales Activities & Outreach
Conduct telesales outreach and follow up with key branch contacts via structured emails.
Follow up on marketing campaigns to convert engagement into qualified opportunities.
Develop outreach templates, call scripts and follow-up workflows, including AI-supported tools to enhance efficiency and conversion.
Prepare quotes, proposals and competitive comparisons tailored to customer needs and purchasing criteria.
Tools, Data & Enablement
Build mapping and targeting models to prioritize high-potential branches and opportunities.
Develop and maintain competitor comparison sheets, quick reference guides, ROI calculators and demo resources to support the sales process.
Use CRM dashboards to track pipeline progress, customer interactions, demo outcomes and account performance.
Maintain complete and accurate CRM records to ensure transparency and proactive account management.
Customer Support & Order Management
Respond promptly to product inquiries, cross-reference requests and customer support needs.
Apply knowledge of product features and technical details to communicate benefits and solutions effectively.
Coordinate internally to support quoting, order processing and delivery timelines for national distributor accounts.
Market Research & Strategic Insight
Monitor market activity, competitor behavior and pricing trends within national distributor segments.
Collaborate with Marketing to develop targeted materials and email templates that highlight competitive alternatives and promote in-stock products.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to engage and influence contacts across national distributor networks.
Excellent communication skills with the capability to deliver value-based product messaging and solution-oriented sales conversations.
Proven ability to conduct structured outreach, follow-ups and ongoing account engagement across phone, email, virtual demos and in-person branch visits.
High level of product and technical aptitude to effectively articulate features, benefits, cross-references and competitive advantages.
Proficiency with CRM systems, sales automation tools, LinkedIn research and AI-supported outreach and targeting technologies.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage pipelines, maintain accurate data, prioritize follow-ups and meet deadlines.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
Experience in national accounts, distribution sales, or inside/technical sales within an industrial or related environment.
Familiarity with Challenger Selling, Solution Selling, or similar consultative sales methodologies.
Demonstrated success driving account penetration and measurable sales growth.
