Zurich North America is hiring an experienced UA Manager – Middle Market to join our Middle Market team in Atlanta. The position is based in our Atlanta office with hybrid work flexibility, requiring office presence 3 days a week.
Responsibilities
Accountable for ensuring teams meet key operational performance goals.
Assess and evaluate underwriting processes to implement agreed technical standards, controls, practices and procedures, maintaining underwriting disciplines and identifying opportunities for improvements.
Follow up regularly with producers as needed to discuss status of new business, upcoming renewals, and renewals in process, and to develop appropriate action.
Perform customer service and account management responsibilities as needed, which may include resolving issues related to billing, making changes to policies, and answering policy coverage related questions.
Participate in key account business relationships in person or teleconference with Underwriters.
Conduct regular performance evaluations, ensure staff meet performance standards based on key operational performance metrics, staffing models and growth goals, and conduct career development conversations and robust development plans.
Makes staffing decisions concerning hiring and guides staff development through identifying skills and training needs, delegating tasks appropriately, and motivating staff to provide outstanding client service.
Build insurance operations and underwriting skills and knowledge by participating in cross-training and learning additional processes and procedures to support multiple workflows and contribute to effectiveness of team operations.
Builds strong relationships across the business and takes leadership role in Underwriting team huddles and meetings.
Assists to onboard and train new Underwriting Assistants and Underwriters.
Acts as subject‑matter expert for initiatives aimed at continuous improvement and operational performance.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 4 or more years of experience in the Insurance, Underwriting or Market‑Facing area.
or Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associate Degree and 4 or more years’ experience in the Insurance, Underwriting or Market‑Facing area.
or High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more years of experience in the Insurance, Underwriting or Market‑Facing area.
Knowledge of the insurance industry and the legal and regulatory environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Insurance certifications.
Experience working in a production and metrics performance environment.
Knowledge of operational budgets.
Knowledge of international insurance programs.
Compensation & Benefits Your pay at Zurich is based on your role, location, skills, and experience. We follow local laws to ensure fair compensation. You may also be eligible for bonuses and merit increases. The proposed salary range for this position is $74,300.00 – $121,700.00, with short‑term incentive bonus eligibility set at 10%.
