The Asphalt Plant Mechanic is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of asphalt plant equipment by performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs. This position supports the overall production process by addressing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, performing inspections, and minimizing equipment downtime.
Wage Range: $30-$32 per hour, dependent upon experience.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
Perform routine preventive maintenance and inspections on all asphalt plant equipment and systems. Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues with plant equipment. Repair or replace defective parts, such as motors, bearings, belts, pumps, conveyors, and other plant components. Ensure compliance with all safety policies, procedures, and regulations when performing maintenance tasks. Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage accurately in maintenance logs and records. Assist in the scheduling of major maintenance projects, shutdowns, and overhauls with plant management. Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper storage of tools and parts. Respond quickly to emergency breakdowns to minimize plant downtime and support continuous production. Collaborate with other plant personnel to identify and implement improvements to equipment reliability and efficiency. Order and maintain inventory of necessary spare parts and supplies. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience
High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Technical degree or certification in industrial maintenance, mechanics, or a related field preferred. Experience in the building materials or construction industry preferred. Driver’s License; Class A CDL with DOT Medical Card preferred. Work Requirements
Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; experience with maintenance management systems preferred. Must be 18 years in age or older. Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen, and criminal background check. Report to the plant dressed appropriately and ready to begin work at the designated start time. Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook. Willingness to work independently within a team environment and assist the team with other duties as required. Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required. Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed to support
