EHC is currently looking for a
Diesel Mechanic
for a client in the south Houston, TX area.
Job Summary: The Senior Mechanic will primarily be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the shop. The Senior will assist in training and coordinating work of mechanics and technicians. In this position, the Mechanic will be responsible for repairs and maintenance of forklifts, heavy equipment, and trucks in accordance with factory and industry standards, run diagnostics where applicable.
Qualifications:
5+ years’ experience
Diesel Mechanic Certification
Ability to work flexible and/or extended hours and weekends (normal schedule: 45 hrs)
Ability to pass a background check and drug screen
Stable work history
Reliable transportation
Committed to working safely at all times including a commitment to the policies and procedures of the operation
Positive attitude; good team player
Knowledge of Diesel Engine and Hydraulic System diagnostics and preventive maintenance
Knowledge of DOT rules and regulations
Experienced in heavy diesel engine diagnostics and repairs
Responsibilities:
Maintains inventory of replacement parts, tools, and equipment required for operations
Ensures preventative maintenance and repairs meet all quality and safety standards
Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications
Repair and replace damaged or worn parts
Operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment in order to diagnose defects
Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs
Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools
Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles
Examine parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges
Schedule maintenance for industrial machines and equipment as well as keep equipment service records
Overhaul and test machines or equipment to ensure operating efficiency
Adjust, maintain, and repair or replace subassemblies, such as transmissions and crawler heads, using hand tools, jacks, and cranes
Adjust and maintain industrial machinery, using control and regulating devices
Observe all safety precautions and wear appropriate PPE at all times
Any other duties as requested by respective supervisor and/or manager
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and frequently exert 100 lbs. of force to push, and pull or otherwise move objects
Work involves long periods of standing, squatting, bending, twisting and reaching; may also include climbing
Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions – heat, cold, rain
Good manual dexterity, including the ability to make precise finger movements and the ability to keep arms and hands steady
Need normal vision and hearing
