Under the general direction of the Respiratory Therapy Supervisor, the Respiratory Therapist renders highly professional and technical care to patients requiring specialized respiratory care interventions. He/She collaborates with patients, families, peers, physicians, and other members of the healthcare team in the delivery of healthcare services to a specific patient population. The Respiratory Therapist assesses patient needs, contributes to the plan of care, implements, and evaluates the effectiveness of respiratory regimens in accordance with patient needs and documents such in the medical record. Responsibilities
Obtain and analyze physiologic specimens, interpret physiological data, and perform tests and studies of the cardiopulmonary system. Apply and monitor medical gases and environmental control systems, mechanical ventilator support, airway management, and bronchopulmonary hygiene. Administer pharmacological agents related to respiratory care procedures, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, and hemodynamic cardiovascular support. Engage in family and patient education activities to promote understanding of disease processes, medical therapy, and self-help. Maintain current knowledge and competency in Respiratory Care practices, and participate in mentoring/orientation of staff. Consider safety, cost, and impact in planning the delivery of care. Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
Current BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications from AHA/RQI. New York State Licensure as a Respiratory Therapist. Previous acute care experience preferred. Why ARMStaffing?
