The Monte Bello Retail Manager has leadership responsibility for the Retail sales channel at our Monte Bello estate and will assume the management and maintenance of all aspects of the department.
Responsibilities include; guest service, visit & event coordination, sales, education, membership acquisition, inventory control, daily financial management, staff supervision, employee development, outreach and business reporting.
The Manager will also assist in hosting on and off-site events.**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:****Personnel*** Exemplify excellent leadership qualities, leading by example, and inspiring achievement.* Motivate and mentor staff to provide the highest level of hospitality and service.* Assume a leadership role in creating and executing new & ongoing staff training initiatives and employee development opportunities.* Schedule, coordinate and lead ongoing staff meetings and tastings; regularly contributing topics of concern or interest regarding financial performance, wine industry news, sales and service best practices, food pairing and social media.* Together with Director, assist in developing goals and incentives for the Retail staff.* Lead, together with Director and HR, the hiring and performance review process for the Retail team.* Oversee staff scheduling, including but not limited to weekend and weekday shifts, training opportunities, staff meetings, and onsite and offsite events.**Operations*** Ensure the Retail Sales operations are supported as necessary including; answering phones, email, voicemail, exception reports, department projects, processing orders, and updating customer records.* Oversee the physical organization and cleanliness of all hospitality related areas including case goods room, tasting rooms, retail areas, back bar service areas and storage locations.* Ensure that all aspects of shipping logistics (i.e. entering orders, packing orders, making labels, tracking, updating compliance and policies in the tasting room), are fulfilled appropriately.* Ensure that daily cash management and reconciliations, including POS operations, management and maintenance, are accurately performed.* Lead the wine and non-wine inventory process, ensuring S.O.P.’s are consistently followed.* Take a leadership role in the utilization and understanding of Salesforce.com and Commerce7 to help achieve departmental objectives.**Customer Relations*** Manage consumer relationships to generate optimum lifetime value, brand loyalty, and sales.* Manage and inspire your team to ensure each guest experience at the winery estate is innovative, engaging and sets the highest service standard, reinforcing our brand positioning.* Assist in the management and development of wine club membership through new member acquisition and existing member retention.* Oversee the guest service and hospitality programs at Monte Bello which includes hosting guests visiting our property and coordinating with internal stakeholders, when necessary.
Hosting duties include but are not limited to:
+ Tours, tastings, & vineyard visits.
+ Accurately coordinating and scheduling visit details
+ Securing wines and any accompaniments; setup and teardown of tastings
+ Providing follow-up and feedback when appropriate* Assume a leadership role in coordinating and executing VIP consumer and trade visits to our property. This may include hosting specialty presentations and educational seminars (food and wine pairings, sensory analysis, etc).* Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the various unique selling points of our products, properties, and production teams; accurately communicate this with staff and customers.* Take a lead role in strategic planning sessions related to experience design and implementation.**Key Events*** Lead all aspects of the planning and execution of events held at the Monte Bello property.
These events include, but are not limited to, consumer tastings, Wine Club events, hospitality Open Houses, Trade tasting and wine release parties, etc.* Periodically pour our wine and greet guests at key consumer and trade tasting events throughout the SF Bay Area and beyond, as needed.**Outreach and Business Development*** Together with Director, assist in the development and execution of community outreach and gatekeeper relationship plan that drives qualified guest traffic to the property.* Maintain an accurate and up-to-date history for gatekeeper account and contact records in our CRM system, Salesforce.com**Research and Analytics*** Perform regular analysis of purchasing trends, product sales, site traffic, customer visits, etc. to identify opportunities for Retail growth.* Accurately execute monthly, quarterly, and annual business reviews and reports.* Research purchase and portfolio history prior to the guests’ arrival, when possible, to determine the most appropriate guest experience and collaborate with the respective departments (wholesale, marketing, production), as needed.* Acquire, maintain, and track information obtained through guest interaction (industry trends, economic data, and product feedback) to support strategic planning.* Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer records and history in our various systems (Salesforce.com, Commerce7, etc)**Key Internal Partners*** Partner closely with marketing team, production team, and wholesale sales team as necessary.* Partner closely with principals, their executive assistants, and winemakers to ensure communication of all key details about guests they may be hosting/co-hosting.**NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:**
Performs all related duties as assigned.**QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:*** Undergraduate college degree preferred; minimum two years’ junior college* Minimum three years’ experience in the luxury wine industry with an emphasis on delivering exceptional guest experiences* Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral* Excellent organizational skills* Collaborative/team operational and development skills* Ability to think strategically, with a bias for execution* Ability to make empowered decisions that positively affect the customer’s experience* Computer proficiency: Word, Excel, Outlook, Commerce7, Tock, etc.* Excellent attention to detail* Ability to travel throughout the Bay Area and occasionally beyond, as needed* Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed### Get In TouchWe're eager to get to know you!
