We are hiring a dedicated electron microscopy specialist to join our R&D team. In this exciting role within our international company, you will focus on the analysis of defective semiconductor laser components and peripheral parts manufactured in our on‑site factory. You’ll collaborate with colleagues across departments and global sites, tackling diverse and challenging problems. Your high‑quality investigation results will directly support ongoing production and the development of next‑generation laser components. You will also contribute to the research and implementation of cutting‑edge technologies.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Join a multidisciplinary failure analysis team of lab staff, technicians, and engineers supporting semiconductor laser production.

Take the technical responsibility of our electron microscopy infrastructure located across the factory.

Ensure smooth instrument operation: coordinate, perform, or delegate maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and manage service interventions with external partners.

Manage tool usage: schedule experiments, monitor instrument status, and coordinate access with stakeholders.

Develop and optimize sample preparation and imaging protocols to ensure high data quality.

Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and automated workflows.

Train users to ensure safe, efficient, and consistent tool operation.

Actively contributes to complex sample preparation and measurement tasks, including data analysis, interpretation, and reporting.

Ensure seamless sample and data flow between production, R&D, and quality control.

Stay current with technological advancements in microscopy and propose improvements to workflows and capabilities.

ABOUT YOU

Technical or engineering degree (EFZ, HF, FH, university) in electrical engineering, materials science, physics, or a related field.

Hands‑on experience with electron microscopy, ideally including FIB and TEM operation.

Skilled in managing complex instrumentation, including maintenance planning and troubleshooting.

Strong background in laboratory instrumentation, measurement techniques, and microscopy.

Experience working in cleanroom environments and/or willingness to do so.

Familiarity with semiconductor devices and/or microelectronic components is a plus.

Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office; quick to learn new software tools.

Skilled in evaluation software for electron microscopy and EDX data.

Strong spatial awareness and ability to interpret 3D imaging data.

Highly self‑organized, flexible team player, and passionate about your work.

Committed to clear documentation, effective communication, and validated conclusions.

Fluent in German (spoken and written) with solid English skills.
