The Business Banking Underwriter IV is responsible for underwriting Business Banking loans to determine credit worthiness and compliance with Bank lending policy. The role focuses on complex credit structures, customer exposure up to $10MM, and single approval authority up to $4MM.
Responsibilities
Maintain an individual pipeline of work to support Business Banking production.
Review all financial and credit application information to make sound credit decisions.
Assess risk profile of borrowers and support the line of business and job family as needed.
Assist with training and mentoring new hires and provide support for the UWI, UW II & UW III job families.
Act as primary back‑up for the manager for team huddles & meetings.
Represent the direct manager outside of the function group as needed.
Collaborate with credit and segment risk to meet or exceed department goals.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree.
7+ years’ experience with business or commercial underwriting in a centralized lending environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a business‑related field.
3–4 years of leadership/management experience.
Ability to underwrite credit exposures in excess of $4MM.
Previous authority to underwrite and decide credits without additional signers.
Demonstrates confidence, assertiveness, professionalism, and the ability to interact with all levels within the organization.
Proficient use of Microsoft Office and other internet resources.
Excellence in customer service, high motivation, focus, and goal orientation.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including grammar and demeanor.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, planning, and follow‑up.
Ability to work independently on multiple tasks without compromising quality.
Ability to determine and make necessary changes within their functional team to improve the unit as a whole.
Exempt Status:
Yes (not eligible for overtime pay)
Workplace Type Office. Certain positions outside the branch network may be eligible for a flexible work arrangement, combining in‑office and work‑from‑home options.
Compensation Range $70,000 – $140,000 Annual Salary (base). Actual compensation may vary and may be above or below the range based on location, experience, and performance. The position includes an applicable incentive compensation plan.
