Summary The Business Banking Underwriter IV is responsible for underwriting Business Banking loans to determine credit worthiness and compliance with bank lending policy.
Description The position requires strong analytical, financial, and decision‑making skills, and involves reviewing complex credit structures and managing a pipeline of work.
Responsibilities
Supports Business Banking production by maintaining an individual pipeline of work.
Reviews all financial and credit application information to make sound credit decisions. Loans typically include those with complex credit structures and borrower exposure up to $10MM.
Utilizes single approval authority up to $4MM.
Appropriately assesses risk profile of borrower.
Assists with training and mentoring new hires as well as providing support for UWI, UW II & UW III job families as needed.
Performs tasks as needed to support the line of business and job family.
Acts as primary backup for manager as needed for team huddles & meetings.
Positions with knowledge and expertise to represent direct manager outside of function group as needed.
Collaborates with both credit and segment risk to meet or exceed department goals.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree.
7+ years’ experience with business or commercial underwriting in a centralized lending environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in business related field.
3-4 years leadership / management experience.
Ability to underwrite credit exposures in excess of $4MM.
Previous authority to underwrite and decide credits without additional signers.
Demonstrates confidence, assertiveness, professionalism, and ability to interact with all levels within the organization.
Proficient use of Microsoft Office and other internet resources.
Excellence in customer service; highly motivated, focused, and goal oriented.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including grammar and demeanor.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, planning and follow‑up.
Ability to work independently on multiple tasks without compromising quality.
Ability to determine and make necessary changes without oversight to better the unit as a whole.
Exempt Status Yes = not eligible for overtime pay / No = eligible for overtime pay. Yes.
Workplace Type Office. Certain positions outside branch network may be eligible for flexible work arrangement, combining in‑office and work‑from‑home.
Compensation $70,000 - $140,000 Annual Salary. Additional incentives may apply. Benefits: health insurance, wellness program, life & disability insurance, retirement savings plan, paid leave, holidays, PTO.
