Job Summary The Placement Specialist will market property and casualty insurance programs to small and middle‑market accounts, gather and analyze data, prepare submissions and applications, negotiate coverage terms, and craft proposals for both new and renewal business.
Responsibilities
Maintain timelines and processes for new business and renewals, including exposure analysis, quote specifications, coverage negotiations, and proposal presentations.
Communicate effectively within a team environment, with producers and Segment Leaders.
Review insurance policies and contracts and recommend improvements.
Prepare property and casualty submissions for prospects and renewing accounts, including line specifications, Acord applications, loss summaries, prospect profiles, and exposure schedules.
Attend prospect and proposal meetings with producers as needed.
Analyze spreadsheet data of client exposure and/or loss data, and develop financial models of loss‑sensitive programs when necessary.
Respond to prospect and carrier phone calls.
Maintain familiarity with and relationships to various insurance carriers and wholesalers.
Handle confidential and non‑routine information with discretion.
Adhere to licensing requirements, including continuing education.
Participate in seminars, company meetings, carrier events, and educational activities to improve expertise and product knowledge.
Work independently and collaboratively on special, non‑recurring, and ongoing projects.
Requirements
Excellent phone etiquette, written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and accept direction on assignments.
Proficiency with MS Office, especially Excel and Word.
Strong organizational skills and capacity to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work.
Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and deadlines.
Strong attention to detail to ensure document accuracy.
Team‑orientated attitude with strong customer service skills.
Experience marketing small to middle‑market accounts to carriers in a broker/agent capacity; excellent knowledge of those markets.
Strong knowledge of all basic P&C coverages.
Superior presentation and relationship skills to communicate proposals in a highly interactive role.
Education and Experience
Minimum 3‑5 years of relevant Commercial Lines experience.
College degree preferred.
License in property and casualty insurance required.
Professional designations such as CISR, CIC, AAI, ARM, or CPCU preferred.
Experience with Epic preferred.
Candidates should be comfortable with an on‑site presence to support collaboration, team leadership, and cross‑functional partnership.
