Junior Radiation Protection Technician –
Westinghouse Electric Company Opportunity Overview: Contract – 18 + months at Waltz Mill site in Madison, PA.
As a Junior Radiation Protection Technician, you will help implement the radiation protection program. Work includes surveillance of radiological work areas, radioactive material and waste management, data/records management, and radiological sample collection/analysis. You will report to the RSO & RP Supervisor at the site.
Your Day-to-Day
Perform radiation control work activities to support maintenance, decontamination, and compliance operations under the supervision of senior personnel.
Use instrumentation to perform radiological surveys of work areas and produce associated documents.
Conduct and support assessments of radiological conditions in controlled areas.
Respond to radiological incidents, contamination events, radiological emergencies, and participate in corrective action activities under the supervision of senior personnel.
Establish and maintain radiological control points, stock radiological supplies, handle radioactive materials and radiological protective equipment.
Provide radiological support during preparation, packaging, and shipment/transfer of radioactive materials and wastes.
Who You Are
High school education and a combination of education and experience in the field of radiation work, radiation protection or health physics.
Experience using and interpreting electronic instrumentation.
Learn basic radiological safety and contamination control techniques.
The ability to work shifts and overtime.
The ability to pass background screening, drug test and be reliable to meet the schedule of the position.
Work as part of a radiation protection team, given broad and general project directions.
Can perform the physical requirements of the position including lifting and transporting 40 pounds, frequently bending and standing/walking for 4-6 hours per day.
Pass a routine medical examination and applicable training, including Respirator Fit Testing.
Be able to maintain a valid driver's license.

WECTEC Staffing Services Offers Competitive Pay and Benefits The base salary range for this position, depending on experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $24.00/hour to $26.00/hour.
