Responsibilities
Provide exceptional customer service in accordance with Valley’s mission, engaging customers with friendly and professional service.
Show knowledge of all Bank products and services and educate customers, cross‑sell where appropriate.
Present a confident and professional demeanor to establish trust and assess customer needs, recommending appropriate products and services.
Meet with customers to analyze financial needs, maximize sales opportunities, and offer all bank products—including checking, savings, certificates of deposit, IRAs, and loan products; promote online and mobile banking.
Meet customer expectations and achieve service quality standards; participate in the sales referral process and assist management in coaching branch staff.
Perform all customer transactions efficiently, maintaining cash balances and using Teller scanning equipment, cash recycling, cash dispensing machines, and coin machines.
Act as Vault Teller, ensuring branch cash adequacy and distributing cash to Tellers within prescribed limits.
Assist in community events (e.g., Habitat for Humanity) and support CRA initiatives and programs.
Report significant matters, issues, and unusual customer activity to the Manager, maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.
Maintain knowledge and compliance with the Bank’s Code of Conduct and all policies and procedures.
Required Skills
Excellent verbal and written communication; write correspondence and demonstrate products accurately.
Interpersonal and customer service skills; attentive, diplomatic, and tactful.
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills to resolve complex customer issues.
Make sound, on‑the‑spot decisions weighing customer satisfaction against potential loss or fraud.
Interpret a variety of written or oral instructions.
Deep understanding of Retail Banking and strong Customer Service skills.
Detail oriented, strong organizational skills, high accuracy.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Proficient computer skills.
Required Experience
High School diploma or GED and at least 1 year of business services experience in branch banking, or successful completion of a Valley Retail training program.
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance, economics or a related field is preferred.
Preferred Experience
Experience with FIS/IBS (Integrated Banking Solutions).
