Job Summary HII Mission Technologies supports the U.S. Navy with the Refueling and Complex Overhaul (RCOH) of nuclear‑powered aircraft carriers at the nation's only dedicated shipyard. As a Master Tradesperson 4 (Senior‑level mechanic), you will support the RCOH Elevator Support Unit (ESU). Your responsibilities will focus on the mechanical systems critical to the refit and modernization of aircraft elevators, directly impacting Navy operational readiness for the next 25 years.
What You Will Do
Develop a master understanding of production processes and interface with customers.
Manage subcontractors and provide work direction to others.
Provide direction and lead others; manage one or more multiple jobs.
Comprehend specialty trade functions and tools.
Perform a variety of complicated and non‑routine tasks.
Develop and use technical documents: controlled work packages, formal work processes, procedures, test documents, reports, and trip reports.
Schedule, report, and brief customers and senior management.
Perform quality inspections on finished product.
Perform duties outside of specialty to complete installation or work assignment.
What You Must Have
High School diploma, Trade School or equivalent, and 6 years of mechanical experience.
Master knowledge and experience with troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs of mechanical systems and associated equipment.
Proficiency in reading mechanical drawings and schematics.
Ability to enforce safety procedures to ensure a safe and secure work environment.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD confidential security clearance and maintain clearance level throughout employment.
Ability to obtain base‑access credentials within 60 days of start date and maintain credentials throughout employment.
Must be a U.S. citizen.
Bonus Points
Graduation from or completion of a vocational school, apprenticeship program, or skilled trades certificate program.
Current or active DoD clearance preferred.
OSHA 10 Maritime Certification.
Knowledge of Navy Tag Out program, NSTM 300, and 3M manual.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift, carry, and transport heavy equipment and boxes (minimum 30 lbs).
Work on and climb ladders; work in extreme temperatures, aboard ships, shipyards, industrial conditions, and confined spaces.
Perform other duties involving high heat, humidity, noise, dirty conditions, work aloft, or over vessel sides.
May ride ships at sea for extended periods.
Might require wearing a respirator.
Travel may be required within and outside the continental United States.
