Responsibilities The Certified Peer Specialist will contribute in a peer support capacity to facilitate recovery and enhance wellness. The role involves serving as a role model for recovery for staff and consumers, helping consumers develop self‑help skills and build support networks, and providing peer support in a manner that positively aligns with Lakeside Behavioral Health System’s philosophy and objectives.

Job Description Since 1969, Lakeside has been the premier provider of specialized behavioral health and addictive disease services in the Memphis and Mid‑South region. The 365‑bed facility is one of the largest free‑standing psychiatric hospitals in the United States. Located on a serene 37‑acre campus in northeast Shelby County, it serves children, adolescents, young adults, adults and seniors. Programs treat disorders such as bipolar disorder, psychological trauma, depression, anxiety, mental illness and addictive disease disorders like alcoholism, drug addiction and substance abuse.

Qualifications Job Requirements Education:

High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Experience:

A minimum of three years’ experience in a mental healthcare field preferred. One year of experience in negotiating the mental health system (crisis services, vocational rehabilitation, human services, etc.)

Licensure/Certification:

Current credentialing as a Certified Peer Specialist through the Department of Behavioral Health and Mental Retardation Services preferred. Valid TN driver’s license and MVR that complies with facility policy.
