VP- Corporate Tax - 17979

Description

Develop and execute AAR’s global tax strategy and long‑term tax planning, including the implications of initiatives and M&A to optimize our effective tax rate and cash tax position as well as ensuring compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations.

This position is based at our Corporate Headquarters in Wood Dale, IL, with a planned relocation to the Merchandise Mart (Chicago) in early 2027.

What you will be responsible for:

  • Oversee all federal, state, local, and international income and indirect tax compliance, ensuring timely and accurate filings.
  • Direct the preparation and review of quarterly and annual tax provisions under ASC 740, including uncertain tax positions and valuation allowances.
  • Maintain strong internal controls over tax processes in accordance with SOX requirements.
  • Evaluate and implement tax‑efficient structures for domestic and international operations, including the impact of transfer pricing.
  • Support business unit leadership with tax guidance on new areas such as contractual arrangements, jurisdictions, products and services, and other operational changes.
  • Lead interactions with tax authorities, external auditors, and advisors.
  • Manage the tax team to ensure that goals and objectives are met in the most efficient and effective way possible while also continuously developing the team’s skillsets.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the AAR’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

What you need to be successful in the role:

  • Master’s degree (M.A.) or equivalent; or fifteen years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience with Big Four/public companies.
  • CPA required
  • M&A experience across both tax structuring and integration required
  • Experience with a global footprint required

Compensation:
The anticipated salary range for this position is $200,000 to $240,000 annually. This range reflects the base salary for candidates who meet the requirements of the role, including experience, education, and location. (In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for a bonus.)
