Sr. Specialist, Communications & Public Relations
The Sr. Specialist, Communications & Public Relations, is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing key relationships in order to fully and successfully realize all internal communications messaging and programs, as well as assisting with external communications messaging and programs. This position reports to the SVP, Communications & Public Relations.
Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Conceive and lead development of the vast majority of the company's communications materials, including publications, presentations, employee mailings, newsletters, internal intranet and external social media posts, office TV graphics, calendars, and emails, along with external communications as needed; manage required approvals.
- Build, grow and maintain strong and productive relationships with internal partners, including the Chief Human Resources Officer and the Chief Technology Officer, the two most prolific and prominent internal communications partner organizations.
- Manage and resolve conflicting priorities on messaging and timing of communications.
- Maintain a clear and constantly updated understanding of the company's business, brand, reputation, viewpoints on issues, and other related pieces of information.
- Ensure activities and messaging are consistent with overall company communications strategy and voice.
- Distribute internal communications through established channels.
- Lead production for all companywide town hall meetings, including collaborating with executive and senior leadership in preparation for the meetings, building slide decks, and managing video live streams to ensure flawless execution.
- Manage the company's LinkedIn account and collaborate with our external PR firm on content.
- Measure the effectiveness of communications campaigns and channels. Build quarterly measurement decks to present to the executive team.
- Use Photoshop, Illustrator and Canva to develop graphics for use in internal and external communications channels, utilizing the company's brand templates.
- Serve as the main contact for intranet content and governance and ensure regular updates to keep the site fresh.
- Create and maintain content for office TV communications channel. Ensure that all site editors are educated and performing their responsibilities.
- Contribute to writing or editing executive communications, under direction of SVP, including blog posts, emails, scripts/speeches, presentations, and other communications as needed for the CEO and executive team.
- Support emergency response and crisis communications as needed.
- Support community engagement efforts as needed.
Education And/Or Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in communications, journalism, advertising, marketing, or related degree.
- 5 or more years of communications experience, with strong preference for corporate or agency experience.
- Creative ability, with demonstrated graphic design experience.
Skills/Specialized Knowledge
- Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills; a writing test may be required.
- Demonstrated strong creative design skills; a creative test may be required.
- Understanding of all types of communications vehicles that will effectively tell the company's story to internal and external audiences.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, meet tight deadlines and work under pressure.
- Strong process orientation.
- Knowledge and use of AP style.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Adobe PhotoShop, Illustrator, Canva and web posting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Customer service orientation and diplomacy skills.
Other Requirements
- Must maintain professional appearance.
- Ability to be at work on a regular and consistent basis; Overtime may be required for this position.
Physical And Mental Demands
This position will spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers. The position may also entail light lifting of supplies and materials occasionally, up to and including 20 pounds in addition to reaching, stooping, standing, and walking. This position requires the ability to talk, hear, compare, compute, coordinate, and communicate.
Work Environment
Standard office working environment that may be busy and noisy at times.
Salary Range
The salary range for this position is: $53,175.00 - $92,170.00, plus individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. Actual compensation within the range will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, qualifications, location, and applicable employment laws.
