Lead Mechanical Engineer Eaton’s Industrial Controls Division is currently seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer. This is a hybrid position (3 days on-site, 2 days remote per week) based at our Menomonee Falls, WI location. Relocation assistance will be provided to candidates currently residing within the US/PR. Approximately 10% travel may be required.

Salary range: $97,500 – $143,000 per year. This is a general guideline; actual compensation will be based on skills, experience, and market considerations.

What you’ll do This role is responsible for the design, simulation, implementation, and validation of mechanical components and assemblies associated with Eaton’s power electronics components (e.g., VFDs) used in industrial motor starting applications. You will work with new product development (NPD) tools and technologies and gain technical leadership experience while engaging with customers and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Design, validate, and release mechanical/electro‑mechanical portions of product designs using appropriate mechanical design and product lifecycle management tools.

Conduct simulations related to mechanical, electro‑mechanical, and thermal aspects of designs.

Direct and collaborate with lab personnel to develop and perform tests validating product functionality.

Establish and document new product requirements at both system and subsystem levels.

Utilize Eaton’s NPD process as a framework for product development.

Apply knowledge of industry and certification standards (UL, CE, IEC, etc.) to ensure compliance.

Learn and apply Design for Six Sigma concepts.

Develop project and product cost estimates and time estimates.

Coordinate and communicate with other disciplines to ensure project success.

Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.

Minimum of 3 years experience in designing electro‑mechanical systems.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience designing electro‑mechanical systems related to power electronics, electrotechnical and solid‑state components (housings, packaging, thermal bus/bar and heat sink designs).

Experience with structured new product development processes.

DFSS or DMAIC knowledge/certification.

Skills

Knowledge and experience utilizing mechanical CAD design tools.

Knowledge and experience related to thermal simulation applied to power electronics.

Knowledge of pertinent agency and certification standards related to industrial motor starting (IEC, CE, UL).

Knowledge and experience related to plastic part design and associated molding.

Knowledge and experience related to stamped part design and associated design for manufacturability/tooling.

Ability to coordinate and communicate with other disciplines to ensure project success.

Proven capability as a leader with functional competency (mechanical engineering).
