Mission Ronald McDonald House Charities, Upper Midwest (RMHC-UM) in partnership with our community, provides a comfortable and caring home‑away‑from‑home that supports keeping families together and reduces stress during a child’s serious illness or injury. RMHC‑UM operates five locations in Minnesota---four in the Twin Cities and one in Duluth, and provides complimentary lodging, meals and support to thousands of families every year.

Job Summary The Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for supporting the prospecting, cultivation, stewardship, and retention of our Community Engagement portfolio – which exists to foster third party fundraising, volunteerism and gift in‑kind. Additionally, this staff member serves as an integral ‘team player’ for fundraising and stewardship efforts across the entire organization – Development Department, Volunteer Department, Meal Program including Cooks for Kids, Family Programming, and Operations. Additionally, this coordinator supports special projects and efforts as lead by Senior Leadership. The coordinator provides excellent customer service and serves as a stewardship liaison between RMHC‑UM and donors and potential donors of all kinds and volunteers. The position will interface with our families, staff, donors, volunteers, Board of Directors, and the general public.

Job Description Primary Responsibilities Development & Community Engagement

Provide support for community fundraisers, events, drives, and campaigns through which RMHC‑UM is a beneficiary.

Steward relationships and manage fundraising tasks by working in various platforms, systems and databases.

Manage donor database—e.g., Raiser’s Edge, VolunteerHUB, RaceRoster and TeamRaiser.

Manage online auction software—e.g., Greater Giving and One Cause.

Work collaboratively with the team to create and execute social media content and leverage social media platforms.

Respond to inquiries of interested community members/constituents with excellent customer service, offering encouragement and support of any desire to foster development and advance RMHC‑UM’s mission.

Steward donor relationships and new fundraising initiatives such that individuals and organizations are inspired to reach and exceed their fundraising goals—serve as a lead or co‑lead contact in assuring outcomes.

Complete Development department requests pertaining to donation solicitations.

Research philanthropic and fundraising avenues to transform opportunities into actual support for RMHC‑UM.

Serve as a staff lead for aspects of RMHC‑UM signature events.

Serve as key lead for champion efforts and groups including Swag/Merch Sales, Pop Tab Collection Program, Red Shoe Society, Scouting and others.

Provide special event support, including logistics and volunteer management.

Admin

Update information in the appropriate databases and calendars.

Provide updates related to third‑party or RMHC‑UM software/fundraising/campaign platforms.

Responsible for stewarding donor relationships by working in Raiser’s Edge, Canva, One Cause, Microsoft Outlook programs and other applicable platforms.

Support RMHC‑UM’s reception area, phone, mail and other administration needs.

Provide support for Development, Community Engagement, Marketing/Communications and Volunteer Departments.

Provide front desk support.

Give tours to various constituents including donors, potential donors, former families, volunteers and community partners.

Assist Family Services Programming and related support.

Expected Hours of Work This is a 40‑hour a week, full‑time in‑person on‑site position. Hours of work are generally Monday – Friday 9 am–5 pm. Nights and weekend shifts are required due to the nature of community and signature events.

Work Environment Ronald McDonald House Charities, Upper Midwest operates programs within three pediatric hospitals in Minneapolis and St. Paul and one in Duluth, MN. Programs provide services to families who have children receiving inpatient treatment in the hospital.

Preferred Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree

Experience working/volunteering in a non‑profit organization and management of volunteers

High tolerance for multi‑tasking and interruptions

Desire and ability to work well as a team player and provide excellent customer service

Ability to constantly operate a computer and other office equipment such as a phone, copy machine, and computer printer

Valid Driver’s License

Competencies and Skills

Excellent verbal and written skills, including comfort with public speaking and group facilitation.

Excellent interpersonal skills including keen attention to detail and the ability to ‘hear’ constituents’ needs.

Utilize organizational software and databases effectively and efficiently: Products include Raiser’s Edge, NXT, Canva, One Cause, Greater Giving; as well as common Microsoft Office products.

Ability to take initiative and persevere through difficult situations.

Ability to relate to people of diverse ages and backgrounds while working in varied situations and venues.

Ability to work in a fluid environment with unexpected variations throughout the workday.

Ability to manage details, organize, prioritize.

Compassion and the ability to work with families facing a health crisis or loss of a child.

Support and/or lead event and families inventory, storage and organization efforts—both onsite and offsite.

Physical Requirements

Frequently load and unload carts, stock shelves, vehicles and trailer, and move items weighing up to 50 pounds.

Perform event preparation and take down tasks, cleaning tasks.
