Wok & Curry LLC
Title
Line Cook (Prep & Service) — Fusion Gastropub
Location Newark, CA (Lion Market Center)
Compensation Competitive hourly (depending on experience) + tips
About Us The Cedar Social is a new "Day-to-Night" culinary destination in Newark. We are not a traditional Indian or Korean restaurant. We are a California Fusion House. We believe Butter Chicken belongs on a burger, Kimchi belongs in queso, and Birria belongs in a taco. We are building a high‑volume kitchen that runs on efficiency, bold flavors, and teamwork.
Role Overview We are looking for Line Cooks who are dual‑threats: disciplined in prep and fast in service. You will work directly alongside our Head Chef to execute our "Smart Kitchen" strategy. Your day starts with collaborative batch‑cooking (creating complex sauces and marinades) and transitions into high‑speed service where you assemble those components into perfect dishes. You aren’t just a cog in the wheel; you are the Head Chef's right hand in execution.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborative Prep (the "Smart Kitchen"): Work with the Head Chef to batch‑prepare core "Mother Sauces" (e.g., Makhani, Vindaloo) and marinate proteins (Short Rib, Tandoori Chicken) during prep windows to ensure the hard work is done before doors open.
Service Execution (the "Assembly"): During rush, transition to line to efficiently assemble prepped components into complex fusion dishes (e.g., Seoul Burgers, Bulgogi Nachos, Tandoori Tacos) with speed and consistency.
Multi‑Station Mastery: Rotate comfortably between Griddle/Plancha (tacos, burgers), Fryer (wings, fries), and Wok (fried rice, stir‑fry) stations.
Quality Control: Ensure every Short Rib Hash and Kimchi Carbonara meets Head Chef’s plating guides before leaving the pass.
Sanitation & Organization: Maintain a clean, organized station to ensure seamless transitions between prep and service modes.
Requirements
2+ years of line cook experience in a high‑volume restaurant (Gastropub or Fast‑Casual preferred).
Generalist mindset: willing to cook tacos, burgers, and noodles in the same shift. Don’t need to be a "Curry Chef" or "Sushi Chef"—you need to be a great Line Cook.
Ability to follow precise plating guides and recipes.
PM shift availability: must be available for shifts ranging from 2:00 PM – Close (approx. 10:30 PM).
Employment type: Full Time.
Years of experience: 1–3 years.
Additional Info Bonus/Commission: No.
