Residential Life Student Support Specialist
This is a temporary position for non‑students at Elizabeth City State University. Multiple temporary assignments may be filled from this posting.
Responsibilities
Conduct regular security rounds in the assigned residential hall and investigate disturbances.
Maintain a safe & secure residential hall environment for students and their guests.
Assist University Police, residence hall staff, and other university officials in student and/or building‑related emergencies.
Assist residence hall staff and University Police in enforcing university and Housing & Residence Life Departmental policies.
Assist in maintaining a clean environment inside the residence hall at all hours.
Monitor and enforce Residence Life visitation policies.
Communicate with the Live‑In Administrator of each assigned residence hall regarding student and visitor issues.
Maintain professional working relationships with students, residence life staff, and other university officials.
Complete and submit duty log reports.
Submit incident reports through the university web site.
Report facility‑related work orders.
Greet students, answer phones, check in visitor students, complete reports, and make rounds to ensure doors are secured.
Work flexible/rotating shifts and perform additional duties as instructed by the Live‑In Administrator.
Attend and actively participate in all required training sessions.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience working in a residence hall setting preferred but not required.
Background in security and/or a related field.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Excellent computer skills.
Willingness to work any of the following shifts: 8:00 am–5:00 pm, 5:00 pm–12:00 am, or 12:00 am–8:00 am, weekdays and weekends.
Availability to work 24 hours per week (part‑time temporary).
Compensation $15.00 per hour.
