This opportunity resides with Uncrewed Systems (UxS), a business group within HII's Mission Technologies division. Uncrewed Systems comprises unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs), unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) and autonomy software. HII creates advanced unmanned solutions for defense, marine research and commercial applications, serving customers in more than 30 countries.
Responsibilities
Procure raw materials, components, tooling, equipment and purchased services.
Plan and schedule purchases for material orders.
Negotiate agreements with suppliers to attain acceptable quality, best price and timely deliveries.
Understand and follow corporation policies and guidelines regarding the ethical conduct of purchasing activities.
Maintain contact with all markets and vendors through personal contact, professional associations and trade publications.
Prepare vendor purchase orders, enter details into computer, send emails and faxes as required.
Issue and monitor company quotation requests for all purchasing material.
Work within the cost reduction program aimed at lowering overall purchased goods costs.
Maintain the vendor rating system.
Use independent judgment and work with little to no direction.
Maintain an Approved Supplier List based on ISO 9001:2015 requirements.
Maintain the Approved Suppliers files.
Process approved requisitions in the ERP system.
Assist in maintaining the Obsolete and Diminishing stock process.
Source new suppliers based on ISO 9001:2015 policies and government contract requirements.
Manage procurement processes in compliance with FAR/DFAR regulations.
Ensure all purchasing activities align with internal policies and procedures in support of CPSR audits.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
10 years relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree in a related field; 8 years with a Master’s degree; or 14 years with a High School Diploma or equivalent.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a government clearance.
Experience in purchasing for government contracts (bonus).
APICS certification (bonus).
Costpoint ERP experience (bonus).
Experience in a manufacturing environment supporting a variety of customer requirements (bonus).
Physical Requirements Job performance will normally require only minor lifting and carrying of boxes of records or equipment.
