Nichols Crane
Nichols Crane Rental, a family-owned and operated business for over 30 years, located in Joliet, IL, is looking for a Dispatch Coordinator for the greater Chicagoland area. This is a full-time, exempt position with a comprehensive benefits package in a casual business environment.
Responsibilities
Coordinate and dispatch heavy-duty cranes for industrial lifting operations across job sites
Communicate clearly and effectively with crane operators, riggers, site supervisors, and other personnel
Monitor crane schedules and job progress to ensure maximum efficiency and minimize downtime
Maintain strict adherence to all safety standards and industry regulations
Respond to operational challenges in real time, rerouting or adjusting crane assignments as needed
Maintain accurate records of crane usage, load capacities, schedules, and job logs
Collaborate with site management to assess project requirements and allocate resources accordingly
Troubleshoot and elevate equipment or logistical issues promptly
Utilize dispatching software and other systems to track crane movements and manage workflow
Ensure all crane operations are carried out in compliance with OSHA and company policies
Qualifications
Proven experience in crane dispatching or industrial operations (preferred)
Strong knowledge of heavy equipment and crane capabilities (preferred)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficient with dispatching and scheduling software; computer literate (Windows-based systems)
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
Able to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities
Physical Requirements
Ability to work in an industrial setting (construction sites, factories, yards)
Comfortable working long hours or flexible shifts when required
Must be able to sit for extended periods while using a computer and communication equipment
