Residence Life Media Specialist
This role supports the Residence Life and Theme Living initiatives through creative media, communications, and event coverage. The position involves producing engaging photos, videos, graphics, and written content to highlight programs, promote student involvement, and showcase community life. Responsibilities include developing the monthly Residence Life newsletter, managing social media campaigns, capturing and editing event photography and video, and creating digital and print materials to support outreach efforts. The position reports to the Assistant Director of Residential Education and plays a key role in enhancing student engagement and visibility of Residence Life initiatives. Required Qualifications: Proficiency in video creation and editing Strong written communication and editing skills Basic graphic design skills for social media Experience with Canva (preferred) Basic photography skills to cover large-scale Residence Life events Recommended Qualifications: Experience with Canva (preferred) Supervision: The Assistant Director of Residential Education or Area Coordinator will serve as the supervisor of record for this position. Responsibilities: Assist professional staff in developing the monthly Residence Life newsletter. Produce photos, videos, and graphics to support Residence Life and Theme Living initiatives. Capture and edit photos from large-scale Residence Life events. Create engaging Instagram Stories, Reels, and themed content campaigns (e.g., move-in tips, study hacks). Edit and enhance Res Life newsletters to highlight events, student stories, and key updates. Utilize interactive features (polls, Q&As, live videos) to engage students and on the Res Life Instagram. Spotlight students, Resident Assistants, and themed communities to encourage participation. Provide event coverage for Residence Life and collaborate with staff to enhance outreach efforts. Create and edit video content for RLCs and theme living. Assist in drafting student-friendly emails and print materials. Assist in reaching events happening on-campus that fit into theme living and support advertising those events. Pay Rate: $16.00
