Retail Pharmacist - Float Department: Retail Rx | OSU Outpatient Pharmacy Dublin
Scope/Position Summary
This position functions to coordinate all aspects of patients' pharmaceutical needs in OSUMC outpatient and retail areas. Duties include but are not limited to: medication order approval and distribution; assurance of appropriate dose, route, frequency and duration of therapy; patient medication profile review for drug‑drug interactions, duplication of therapy, drug allergy interactions and appropriate regimens; patient counseling; disease state management; coordination of patients' pharmaceutical needs with physicians and nurses. Patient population includes pediatric, adult and geriatric patients; the pharmacist must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the ages served, demonstrate medication dosing and identify pharmaceutical needs relative to disease process and age, and effectively communicate with patients, other health care professionals and insurance companies. This position also supervises technicians, undergraduate and graduate student teaching, and provides educational programs for hospital/clinic staff (physicians, nurses and pharmacy staff).
Minimum Qualifications
For hire: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college of pharmacy; licensed or eligible for licensure in Ohio; 1–3 years’ experience in retail or health‑system outpatient pharmacy preferred. Ongoing: Performs professional, supervisory, and teaching functions outlined above; continues to meet competency and licensure expectations of a retail specialty pharmacist.
