Responsibilities
Prepare and review business tax returns including:
Partnerships (Form 1065)
S-Corporations (Form 1120‑S)
C-Corporations (Form 1120)
Business schedules related to Form 1040 clients (Schedule C, E, etc.)
Meet directly with small business owners to gather information, clarify tax positions, and provide education on requirements and deadlines.
Analyze financial statements and bookkeeping records to ensure accurate tax reporting and compliance.
Maintain strong working knowledge of federal and state laws affecting small businesses, especially multi‑service industries typical in Arizona.
Collaborate with internal payroll and accounting teams to coordinate business filings, year‑end reporting, and compliance needs.
Assist with basic tax planning, estimated payments, and advising clients on best practices for business compliance.
Provide support during peak season by helping organize documents, managing client communication, and meeting internal deadlines.
Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of experience preparing business tax returns (1120‑S, 1065, 1120)
Bilingual English/Spanish (required)
Strong understanding of small‑business bookkeeping and payroll impacts
Proficiency with QuickBooks and professional tax software (Drake preferred)
High attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent communication skills with ability to explain tax concepts to non‑technical business owners
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple clients during peak season
Hands‑on experience completing business returns, understanding small‑business tax compliance, and working collaboratively with payroll and accounting teams to provide integrated services.
Prior work in an accounting, bookkeeping, or payroll firm
Ability to identify basic tax‑saving opportunities for small businesses
Customer‑service mindset with consistent follow‑through
Interest in long‑term growth within the tax department
