Description
As an integral part of our client’s team, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the bidding process, ensuring precise estimates, and maintaining strong relationships within and outside of the company. This role requires advanced knowledge of information and communication systems and materials, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Blueprint & Specification Review
Analyze architectural and engineering blueprints, ensuring a thorough understanding of project requirements.
Review project specifications, scope of work documents, and addenda to identify relevant project components.
Use this information to create detailed material, labor, and time estimates that align with project goals and customer expectations.
Project Estimation
Utilize industry-standard estimating methods, tools, and software to develop accurate cost estimates for a wide variety of ICT projects.
Apply advanced knowledge of materials and installation techniques to account for specific project challenges (e.g., environmental factors, access limitations, and unique technical requirements).
Prepare itemized lists of quantities and associated costs for labor, equipment, and materials.
Adjust estimates for varying project conditions such as project location, deadlines, and complexity.
Bid Management
Lead the end-to-end bidding process, from initial review to bid submission, ensuring all documentation is accurate and complete.
Communicate with internal teams to gather necessary details and input during the bid preparation process.
Collaborate with procurement and operations teams to ensure that all necessary components and services are included in bids.
Identify and mitigate risks that may affect the project’s overall cost or timeline.
Maintain comprehensive records of submitted bids and track their progress through the bid evaluation process.
Subcontractor Evaluation
Evaluate subcontractor proposals by comparing them against project requirements and scope.
Assess the reliability, qualifications, and past performance of subcontractors, ensuring the selected subcontractors meet project standards.
Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with subcontractors, ensuring they align with the overall project budget and timeline.
Collaborate with subcontractors to refine scopes of work and clarify ambiguities or concerns prior to bid submission.
Bid Deadlines
Establish a clear timeline for preparing and submitting bids, factoring in time for internal reviews and client clarifications.
Work under tight deadlines while maintaining precision in estimates and submission materials.
Ensure that all bids are submitted in accordance with customer requirements and contractual deadlines.
Bid Qualifications & Exclusions
Identify and clearly outline any qualifications, exclusions, or assumptions within each bid proposal.
Ensure that qualifications and exclusions reflect the specific conditions or constraints of the project and protect the company from unforeseen cost overruns.
Communicate any uncertainties or potential areas of risk to the internal team and customers during bid preparation.
Material & System Knowledge
Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in ICT materials, equipment, and systems, including advancements in low-voltage solutions, data cabling, fiber optics, and communication infrastructure.
Apply expert knowledge of ICT materials and systems to create competitive and accurate estimates, factoring in compatibility, scalability, and future-proofing considerations.
Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to obtain up-to-date pricing and availability for key materials and systems.
Quality Control
Review and proofread all estimates, ensuring calculations are accurate, costs are realistic, and no are overlooked.
Perform detailed cross-checks of estimates with internal documentation and project scopes to minimize errors.
Identify potential areas for cost-saving without compromising project quality, and highlight them during bid reviews.
Design-Build & Budget Estimates
Develop design-build estimates by working with clients, architects, and engineers to create rough-order-of-magnitude (ROM) budgets based on concept drawings or incomplete designs.
Provide cost-saving recommendations or alternative approaches to help clients stay within budgetary constraints.
Demonstrate the ability to provide accurate and reliable estimates even with limited information, leveraging past project experience.
Bid Follow-up
Regularly follow up on submitted bids to understand the outcome, receive feedback, and refine future proposals.
Maintain communication with customers throughout the bid evaluation process, addressing questions, concerns, and clarifications as needed.
Document customer feedback to improve the accuracy and competitiveness of future bids.
Site Visits
Visit job sites, both locally and regionally, to gather firsthand information about the project environment, site conditions, and access requirements.
Perform virtual site assessments where necessary to ensure estimates are realistic and comprehensive.
Utilize observations from site visits to adjust estimates, accounting for project-specific challenges like difficult terrain, existing infrastructure, or logistical hurdles.
Meeting Participation
Attend pre-bid meetings, bid reviews, and project kickoff meetings to ensure all stakeholders have a clear understanding of the scope of work and estimate assumptions.
Actively participate in internal bid review meetings, contributing to discussions about pricing strategy, project approach, and risk mitigation.
Engage in client meetings to explain and defend estimates, demonstrating confidence in pricing and scope decisions.
Customer Relations
Build and nurture long-term relationships with customers, positioning yourself as a trusted advisor in the estimation and bidding process.
Offer expert advice to clients regarding value‑engineering options, alternative materials, or approaches that could improve project outcomes.
Ensure clients receive timely and transparent communication regarding estimates, pricing changes, and project status.
Collaboration
Collaborate closely with sales, procurement, operations, and project management teams to ensure seamless transitions from estimate to execution.
Share insights and observations from the estimating process to help refine project scopes, timelines, and budgets.
Work together with the project management team to ensure that project execution aligns with the estimate and bid terms.

Qualifications
2-5 years of experience in estimating within ICT, construction, or low-voltage industries.

Advanced knowledge of ICT systems, including structured cabling, fiber optics, and communication infrastructure.
Strong understanding of industry standards and codes (e.g., NEC, TIA, BICSI) relevant to telecommunications and low-voltage installations.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills with attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and work within a collaborative team.
Certifications such as BICSI Technician, RCDD, or CPE and experience in vendor and subcontractor management are a plus.
