Job Description
We are a boutique accounting firm located on the Upper-West side and in business for 40 years. It is a small friendly office environment with a great view of the Hudson River. We are looking for someone 2‑3 days a week with more full‑time work during personal and corporate tax deadlines. The candidate must be discreet and handle highly confidential information.
Job Duties and Responsibilities Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
Prepare moderate to complex tax returns (federal/state), multi‑state and multi‑source income.
Prepare forecast and reconciliation of tax returns.
Use QuickBooks for general ledger work and tax write‑ups.
Review and analyze tax files to compile and organize client tax data in preparation for tax return processing.
Draft responses to notices from tax authorities.
Assist with tax audits.
Help resolve tax notices.
Communicate with clients to obtain documentation in preparation for tax return processing.
Job Requirements Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
Licensed NY CPA or candidate.
2‑3+ years in a qualified accounting/tax prep firm, preparing moderate to complex corporate, partnership and individual returns.
Required Abilities and Skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills.
Problem‑solving and critical‑thinking abilities.
Demonstrated competence with ProSeries accounting software and QuickBooks Pro.
Fluent in English, both oral and written.
Excellent judgment, with the ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
