Position Overview
Smith and Oby is growing, and we are looking for a skilled Service Plumber to join our team. This role plays a critical part in delivering the quality workmanship and reliable customer service our company is known for. The Service Plumber will diagnose, repair, maintain, and install plumbing systems in commercial buildings across Northeast Ohio while serving as a positive ambassador of the Smith and Oby brand.
Key Responsibilities
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair plumbing issues across commercial and industrial systems
Perform routine service, maintenance, and preventative inspections
Install piping systems, fixtures, and equipment according to drawings, specifications, and building codes
Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to customers and internal teams
Document service activities accurately and on time
Ensure all work is completed safely and follows Smith and Oby procedures and codes
Care for company issued tools, equipment, and vehicles
Participate in on call rotation as assigned
Required Qualifications
Journeyman card or ability to obtain Journeyman licensing
Three or more years of experience in plumbing service
Strong understanding of plumbing systems including domestic water, gas lines, sanitary and storm
Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
Ability to work independently and solve problems in the field
Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
Preferred Qualifications
Backflow certification
Experience in occupied commercial environments, industrial plants, schools, or healthcare
Boiler, medical gas, or welding experience is beneficial
Personal Qualities

Team oriented with a willingness to mentor apprentices
Proud of their craft and the work they deliver
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift, up to fifty pounds
Ability to climb ladders and work in tight or elevated spaces
